Can I walk from Benelmadena to Puerto Banus?

Hiya, We are staying in Benalmadena for a week and if we wanted to walk to Puerto banus how long would it take us.Also how much would a taxi be from the airport to Benalmadena – would we need to order one as i need a booster seat for my 2 year old son. Thanks Joanna

Hi Joanna You cannot walk from Benalmadena to Puerto Banus....well you can but it will take a good few hours as its about 45km! You will need to get a taxi or bus . Taxis are around 1.30euros per km. Malaga to Benalmadena is about 27 km according to Googlemaps. A taxi from the Airport to Puerto Bnaus normally costs around 80€uros. It maybe be cheaper for you to hire a car. https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-car-hire.html If you are looking for accommodation again near Puerto Banus then you can look at www.lamaestranza.eu a 1 bedroom apartment that provides all baby equippment too. I hope this helps a little Regards Joanne

Train at Malaga Airport

Hola,
I found your E-mail address on a website message board and was wondering if you could help me. I was planning on taking the train from Malaga airport to Torremolinos on Wed 28/05/08 but this morning someone told me the train station at the airport is closed due to renovations. Is this true? If so, is there a bus that goes directly from the airport to Torremolinos? How many stops are there in Torremolinos and which would be the closest to Bajondillo Apartments/hotel on Paseo Maritimo S/N?
Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!
Lisa....Charlotte

Hi,There are alot of works on at the airport but we havent heard anything about the train station being closed. You have to follow the signs to the station as there was a temporary bridge going across. www.renfe.es Regarding the apartments, we dont know every station Im afraid. If you go to www.renfe.es go to Cercanias, Malaga and then Plano, you can see all the stations. Regards Joanne

Malaga to Estepona

Hi Jo,
I am travelling on my own to meet family in a villa in Estepona in a few weeks and understand I can get the bus from the airport to Marbella bus station. I am keen to know if I can pick up a taxi there to estepona and how easy to get one and how much this will be? In addition I how far is it from marbella bus station to estepona as the other option is I could try and get my brother or sister to meet me there?I would really appreciate your help as I am unsure about booking flights until I sort this matter out due to expense and safety. This is my colleagues e/mail so you can respond to this or send it through to I very much look forward to hearing back from you!!

Many Thanks,
Marguerite

At Marbella bus station you could get another bus to Estepona. There is also a taxi rank outside. On googlemaps it says it about 35 km http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Estepona,+Spain&geocode=&dirflg=&daddr=marbella&f=d&sll=36.479276,-5.145035&sspn=0.2352,0.464172&ie=UTF8&ll=36.474859,-5.020065&spn=0.235213,0.464172&z=11 Taxis are around 1.30€ per km. Its not far to drive as you could go on the toll road and come off for Marbella Bus Station where there is an entrance and exit to toll road...20 minutes!

Malaga Airport to Vime Campanario De Calahonda Hotel

Hi Jo, My husband and our 4 kids are landing in Malaga next Tuesday 3rd. We are on a bit of a budget for the week and wanted to know how easy and cheap it would be to get from Malaga airport to vime campanario de calahonda hotel in Calahonda by train. It would be really handy if you could help us out by giving us as much information as physically possible. Thanks for your time. Please respond to email addresses given. Thanks and best regards Tracie

HI Tracie,You can only go as far as Fuengirola on the train. Then you would need to either get a taxi or bus from there. Taxis only take 4 passengers so you would need 2 taxis. From Fuengirlola to Calahonda is about 13 kms. Taxis normally charge around 1.30euro per km You could get the airport bus to Marbella for 4.03€uros takes 45 minutes but then you need to take a bus all the way back to Calahonda. I would call the hotel itself and ask them. regards Joanne

Travelling from Malaga Airport to Cadiar

From Malaga Airport you would need to get to Granada Train or Bus and then you can take a bus with www.alsa.es

Its probably best to fly directly into Granada Airport if you can.

If you have any advice about travelling to Cadiar in Spain please do leave a comment.

Video of Malaga Airport - what it will be like!

As most of you who travel through Malaga Airport will know...over the past couple of years there has been major building works going on and they will continue for a while yet.

However, it should all be worth it when you see the finished result. What with the new Terminals, train, and hotels at Malaga Airport along with the new Malaga Port Terminal and High Speed Train from Malaga to Madrid, Malaga really is going to be a fantastic City.

This video is brought to us by www.tvspain.tv

Malaga Cruise Terminal - Malaga Port

Cruises are becoming more and more popular and since Malaga has built their new passenger terminal, numbers of passengers and cruises coming into the Port continues to rise which is fantastic for Malaga City with all the shoppers.

As we have mentioned before, we believe that Malaga is an underestimated City...everyone gets of the plane and drives right to the Costa Del Sol when Malaga City is fantastic with some lovely beaches too.

You can find lots more information about Cruises / Ship that come to Malaga Port here

Centuro Car Hire Malaga Airport

Hello Jo, I have just discovered your pages – they look like they have helped many travellers over the past few years! My family and another family are flying into Malaga next Monday and we have both hire cars to then drive on through to Nerja. Although we both booked through the same broker, my car ended up being booked through Centauro and so the group is split virtually on arrival as we have to get the shuttle bus to pick up the car. I have a couple of questions that I hope you may be able to advise me on. 1. Is the Centauro Office still on the Airport Site?2. Is there an easy place meeting place for us to drive to on the airport site to rendezvous before we drive down to Nerja? I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Mike

Hi Mike Centurao are apparently no longer in the terminal. Regarding a place to stop....Its pretty difficult to stop anywhere at the moment around the Airport as there are numerous works and the police / staff are constantly moving people on. As you leave the airport you come to a roundabout where you would drive on to Nerja (Big San Miguel Sign) . At the round about you could go round the round about and pull in by the car garages opposite there (I think Niza). Good luck Regards Joanne

Hello Jo, Thanks for your help! Best wishes Mike

Can i get a bus or train from Malaga Airport to Gaucin

Hi We fly into Malaga on Monday 4th August and wondered if we could catch a bus from Malaga to Gaucin – we don’t want to drive – we could take a taxi if that is possible. Can you please help me? Many Thanks Elaine Bowman

Hi, Malaga Airport to Gaucin is a Long Way. Here is a map from Malaga Airport to Gaucin. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=Aeropuerto+de+M%C3%A1laga,+Spain&daddr=gaucin&sll=36.717972,-4.172058&sspn=0.468946,0.928345&ie=UTF8&ll=36.554878,-4.906769&spn=0.46994,0.928345&z=10 I cannot find a bus that goes all the way at the moment. It mean changing quite a lot. Hireing a car may be an option and might be cheaper than a taxi 2 ways.

Dear Jo Thank you so much for your help. I think my sister and I are going to hire a car and drive to Gaucin! Thanks ever so Elaine

Bike Boxes & Cheap Hotels in Malaga

Jo, I have a team of cyclist coming from Milan to Malaga. They are a part of a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for humanitarian causes around the world. They just left today. I have a couple of questions for you: - The team needs a good, inexpensive place to stay that is relatively close to the airport, do you have any suggestions for Malaga?- Also, the team needs to find a bike shop and request that they save bike boxes for them to pack up their bikes, it would be nice if the shop was close to where they were staying, any thoughts?- Last they need a way to get to the airport with their bike boxes. There is five of them. Any thoughts? Thanks, AARON W. SMITH

http://www.ventureexpeditions.org/

Hi Aaron There are a couple of hotels closeby the airport so not in the city Hotel Ibis and also Hotel Novotel. Click here for Malaga Airport Hotels. I dont know any bike places in Malaga other than maybe El Corte Ingles which is at the begining of the City, a big department store that is all over spain and they normally have bikes. Very close by the airport (a short ride) is Toys r us that sell bikes and adults too so they may help you. I hope this helps a little. Regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Hotel Grigo Mar Torremolinos

Hi JoGot your details from the Malaga Airport guide. Some great info there. This may be my first of a few questions over the next few weeks ! :-) I'm coming to Malaga Airport in July, staying at the Hotel Griego Mar in Torremolinos. If we were going to the hotel by bus or train, do you have to go from the airport to Malaga city, then from there on to Torremolinos ?Any idea how much a taxi might cost ? There would be 5 of us - two adults and three kids. Going to Africa for a day trip - any idea roughly how much it would cost, and would you say to go on an organised excursion rather than doing it ourselves ? Any idea how much the ferry would cost (just in case we do it ourselves) ? I went on the link from the airport guide and it keeps saying No sailing on this date - for all dates ! Are there any requirements for going to Africa - any jags / passport, etc ? If it would be ok, could you reply to both my emails (listed above), just so I can get your reply wherever I am - work or home. Thanks very much for your help.Gerry

1. Opposite airport is train station, goes straight to fuengirola. www.renfe.es go to cercanias which is local lines and type in malaga airport, then torremolinos. its cheap. 2. Torremolinos is close so only about 10 to 15 euros maybe but you will need 2 taxis and generally there is a minimum charge. 3. I personally would go on an organized trip, but the choice is yours. I dont know any people that do day excursion yet though. Although the hotels do normally arrange such things. 4. If you cant get through on the website I would call. Sometimes you cant buy tickets more than a few weeks in advance and sometimes the websites just dont work too well I hope this helps a little. Regards Joanne

Trains Malaga to Seville

Hi Jo, I've been investigating the possibilities of going to Seville by train from Malaga on the 18th 0f September this year, and although the information I'm digging up from RENFE is good I don't seem to be able to purchase tickets that far in advance. Would that be right? Obviously I don't want to turn up at the station to find that the trains are full, so any advice you can give us would be appreciated. We'll be arriving at Malaga Airport on that day, and if the chances of getting on the train to Seville are slight then I'd rather rent a car to be sure of getting to our destination on the day. Regards.................Bob Lindsay.

Hi Robert,I would give them a call personally on 0034 952 15 75 07 between hours 7am to 11pm
Like some lines in the Uk you can only buy 2 or 3 months in advance. But there is also works going on with the train lines and things are changing. Different places you need to change etc. Re Renting a car, You may well find it about the smae price, renting cars here can be cheap yu can get a quick quote here https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-car-hire.html Regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Almeria & San Jose

Hi Jo, I saw your email address offering advice on the Malaga Airport Guide. We are a family of 4 and will be arriving in Malaga from Rome to stay with friends in SAN JOSE. What is the best idea/way to get to Almeria and then San Jose? How far is it ? Some people say train to Almeria and then hire a car others say get a car and just drive all the way. The plane gets in at 12 midday. We have no experience with this part of the world (being a family of australians) so any advice will be great. Thanks Peter

Hi,Personally, Id hire a car. Road are pretty good here. You could get a train, the website is www.renfe.es you cant go direct you would need to change, best to give them a call. Here is a map from Malaga Airport to Almeria. Where abouts is San Jose? as its coming up the other other direction. Regards

Places to Meet at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo I arrive in Malaga on Sat 17th May and will spend a night in the city centre. What is the most cost efficient was to get to my hotel - Room Mate Lario. Secondly, I will be meeting my brother on Sunday at the airport as he is flying in from London, can you suggest a good meeting point as neither of us is familiar with the airport? Thanks Karen

Hi Karen In the arrivals hall Terminal 2 (main) there is a cafe, the only cafe where you could sit and wait for your bothter to come through. There are some works at the moment so do keep check on flights and which terminal as it may land in Terminal 1 but you can walk to that from Terminal 2, just a couple of minutes. Re getting to your hotel. Opposite the airport you can get on the train to Malaga City or as you come out of arrivales turn right and there is a bus stop 1 bus goes to marbella and the other goes into Malaga. Regards Joanne

Thanks Joanne.

Malaga Airport to Gaucin Transfer or Car Hire

Hi Jo

I am travelling to Gaucin with two other adults and a baby in August. Have you
any recommendations for transfer companies from Malaga airport? Also if I hire
a car what is the drive like unfortunately I cannot stand heights and i think
the drive there may prove quite steep ? have you any advice?

thanks

Ceri

Hi Ceri

I think you would be better hiring a car its a long way! On Googlemaps its just under 120km. Taxis charge around 1.30€uro per km. 2 ways...a car may be cheaper.

Most of the journey as you will see is along the coast...its only a short way up into Gaucin

Manilva to Gaucin, on Googlemaps is saying only 19 kms...around 15 minutes.

IS THERE PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO GET THERELEAVING ON FRIDAY MORNING, OR WOULD IT BE NECESSARY TO TRAVEL ON THE THURSDAY NIGHT? DO ALL BUSES FROM MALAGA STOP AT BENALMADENA?GRATEFUL FOR ANY INFORMATION AND HELP. THANK YOU Thomas Morris

Hi Thomas

To get to Benalmadena from Malaga Airport you are best getting the train. www.renfe.es

From Benalmadena you need to get a bus or buses here is the website for buses around Malaga / Marbella depending on where you are in Benalmadena there are 2 different stops. YOu would probably take the bus to La Linea and then change for Gibraltar. Alternatively you could go into one of the big hotels and see fi they have day excursions to Gibraltar.

Malaga Airport to Calahonda

hi there jo was just trying to find out how much a taxi should be from malaga airport to calahonda to work out if it is cheaper to get a private transfer any help would be greatful thanks mark

Hi Mark,

Here is a mapy from Malaga Airport to Calahonda. Its around 37 kms and taxis are normally about 1.30 euros per km.

Alternatively you could get the airport bus for 4.03 euros to Marbella Bus Station and then get a bus back.

Sometimes its not that much more to hire a car at Malaga for the price of 2 taxi rides there and back to from the airport.

Malaga Airport to Peurto Dequesa

Hi I saw ur response on blogger.com and thought you might be able to help me - I am flying into Malaga sat 10 May 21.30 and want to get to Peurto Dequesa ( south of Estepona ) but don't have to be there until Sunday 11May so was going to book over night accomodation somwhere maybe Malaga , Marebella , Estapona etc - I am going sailing on Sunday around Straits Gibraltrar - I was thinking of getting a train to Marbella and then a bus maybe ....any advise or travel tips welcome - thank you Susan

Hi Susan, The train only goes as far as Fuengirola So best to come out fo the airport and go to the bus stop and get the airport bus to Marbella Bus Station. All information here https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html Then you would need to change buses to get to Duquesa. Bus website here http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ From Marbella Bus Station you could also get a taxi to somewhere local for a hotel like Marbella Old Town. You dont want to go too far of the beaten track as you need to get the bus the next day for Duquesa. You could get a bus to Estepona and stay there. Estepona is quite nice and then not too far from duquesa.
I hope this helps Regards Joanne

Places to eat at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo We are travelling to Malaga for the first time in May with our 5 year old Son - we are scheduled to arrive after10pm - I was just wondering if there are any facilities in arrivals to purchase a few basic food and drink essentials to take to our accomodation to last us until the morning- until we can get to a mini market? I don't fancy having a thirsty / hungry boy on my hands at the end of a late flight! Many thanks, regards

Hi Judith, There is a cafe as you arrive on the left. This may be open. If not then you could go upstairs to departures where there are a couple of cafes too. Regards Joanne

Train Station near Flatotel in Torrequebrada

Hi Jo, what is the best way to get to the Flatotel in Torequebrada(Benalmadena) from the airport? I have used the train service manyyears ago, but I'm not sure which is the best stop to get off at. Ibelieve also that there is a number 110 bus service direct to thehotel. Where would I pick this up from?
Many thanksBrian

Hi Brian Best to give the Hotel a call and ask them which is the best station. You can find the page you need here http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/malaga/index.html click "plano" and it will show you all the stations. Regards Joanne

Hi jo have just returned from a trip to spain landed at malaga airport hired a car from Crown who i have used b4 whilst loading luggage into car my flight bag was taken from off the front seat of the hire car it contained our passports driving licence apartment keys and glasses etc. reported it to local police(airport) who did not seem concerned and said it was unusual although there was also another couple also reporting a theft from the airport. But the more people i speak to the more i realise it happens on a regular basis. please warn people to be very neglegent i would not want it to ruin anyones holiday like it did ours.

Mick

Dear Mick Very sorry to hear about this. Yes it seems to be a common problem...when you first land and hire a car you are vunerable. I dont think its just Malaga though. I will post your story up thank you. Im really sorry to hear about that once again.

How to get from Malaga Airport to Duquesa

Hi Jo,
I am emailing from a Sailing School in the South of Ireland. We are planning on flying some of our students into Malaga Airport. We would like to get a train from Malaga Airport to Puerto Del Duquesa. Would you be able to help us with trains? Any idea whether you can, with connections, get from Malaga to Puerto del Duquesa? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Kind Regards,Shane Mc'Auliffe

Hi,Sorry for the delay, I was away on holiday. The transport system is not that great at the moment. The train only goes as far as Fuengirola at the moment. Which is still quite a way from Duquesa. Its either a Train to Fuengirola then a costly taxi or bus. or Bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella costing 4.03€ then you will need to change maybe 1 or 2 times for a bus to Duquesa. The bus website is here http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ Gibraltar Airport is nearer if you can fly there. Regards Joanne

Places of interest on Costa Del Sol & Inland

Hi Joanne,
Whoops! I think I sent your information back to you!
Thank you very much for your help - I'd spent ages trying to find out about the buses to Marbella, and all I could find were the ones coming back to the airport and I seemed to be going round in circles. Your information will certainly come in very useful. It'll also mean we don't have to take a hire car back to the airport with an almost full tank of petrol, which we'd paid for in advance! In fact, I don't suppose you know of any car hire companies which don't charge for a full tank of petrol in advance?
Also, while I've got your ear, do you know of any little villages or towns worth visiting? We know Istan inside out, have done Ronda and Mijas lots of times, enjoyed Nerja, and have also visited Gibraltar, Cadiz, Seville and Granada. But what we'd love to find are some little fishing villages, or interesting places inland. Is there anywhere you might like to recommend? Oh, and we've already discovered the 'Lake District' from an article in a Sunday newspaper. So anywhere you might know about would be very much appreciated.
I could chat all day, but I'm taking your time.
Thank you again for the bus timetable/information.
Lindsay

Hi, Little fishing villages here on costa dont really exist anymore its all Marbella port and Puerto Banus. There is also Jerez (airport too) which is nice,Cordoba City, Monda , Grazalema, Caseres small town, Ojen small village, Castillar de Frontera is an old castle where there was a town but then they built a new town...very interesting. Places of Interest It would be great to hear anything from you, about new towns you find to put on on the message board. Enjoy Regards Joanne

Latest on Malaga Airport

Having just come back from Malaga Airport building works are still going on. There are changes nearly everyweek with lanes so do take care and drive slowly.

Driving towards P3 & P4 you can see a brand new road appearing, its incredible. On the way to the airport you can see a road being built too, which will be the main road round into the airport.

The rate that they are building is incredible. We arrived in Terminal 1 the other day, not too sure exactly why, could have been due to high traffic or building works so if you are meeting people, check which terminal the plane is arriving at.

Flybe Exeter to Malaga

A couple of weeks ago we flew with Flybe from Malaga to Exeter. Parked in P3 for free!

Had a bit of a queue at check in as we were a little late. Went through security fine..no probs. Looked around the shops for a bit and then went through to passport control and there was a HUGE queue. Everyone was complaining and it did seem to take ages. Just 1 guy was on. I think we queued up for 15 minutes for passports.

Finally got through and boarded the plane. Staff on board Flybe were really nice and polite. Flight was very comfortable.

We arrived back on Saturday and for some reason landed in Terminal 1 which was a little strange. The airport did seem quite busy but it may also be to do with works going on. So if you land somewhere which doesnt look familiar...it could be Terminal 1!

We will arrive at the Malaga airport on june the 28 th 2008 at 17:50 o´clock. It would be very nice of you to help me and if it is possible send me an english bus-plan by e-mail.
I hope my english is not so bad and you can understand my problem.Have a nice day!Lisa

Hi Lisa

As you come out of the arrivals hall at Malaga Airport there is a bus stop. One bus for Marbella and the other for Malaga City. Take the one to Malaga City and have your address that you need at hand to show the driver. This would be best.

Cars for Elderly in Malaga Airport

Hi Jo, I am flying to Malaga at the end of July this year. In my party, there are two elderly ladies. They are not disabled, but can't walk particularly far. In the past, I have noticed, what I can only describe as 'square dodgem' cars, with a flashing light on, and seem to carry passengers to various parts of the airport. I think they carry up to 4 people. Could you tell me what they are called and how I could arrange to book them to carry the ladies from the aircraft disembarkation point to the baggage re-claim, and vice versa, for both legs of our journey. We are flying with Jet2.com, and all they said, was, contact the aeropuerto? Any advice would be gratefully received,Thank you very much,Regards,Michae

Hi Michael Sorry for the delay i have been away They are just called buggies and are generally there when the plane lands. You just need to tell them that you need help and they should take you. Im pretty sure that they will see thatthe 2 ladies need help. Regards joanne

Supermarkets near Malaga Airport

Hi JoI am flying in to Malaga in September on a saturday and was wondering if there are any large supermarkets/hypermarkets near the airport? We have a hire car and are heading towards Cordoba to a self catering villa so want to stock up on big items on the way. Also i have a small baby and wondered if i would get nappies easily enough?? I dont suppose you can get cow and gate formula too??Thanks for your help Becky x

Hi becky Firstly see if the self catering apartment could provide you with a few bits. We have a holiday apartment and always put in water, tea coffee, toilet paper etc and if anyone needs anything particular we always get it and keep the receipt. Otherwise you need too look for Open Cor or El Corte Ingles which is in Malaga. As its saturday there will be places open and im sure you will find somewhere. Yes nappies are easy to get normally. We love cordoba and seville have a great time

Hand Luggage at Malaga Airport

I know Luton airport only allows one carry on bag, but returning from Malaga May 14th will I be allowed to carry a handbag as well, or does it have to fit inside the other one ?

Penny Robinson

Hi Penelope.

Its not as strict from here. It should be only 1 peice of hand luggage but the other day my husband went through with small suitcase and bag.

If I was you be prepared to be able to put it in one bag if you can. Things also depend on their moods.

Bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella

Hi Jo,
We have a place in Aloha Mirasierra, Golf Valley, Nueva Andalucia, four miles from Puerto Banus, and have always . travelled from the airport by hirecar. However, we are told there is a reliable bus service, but don't know any details. Does it run twenty-four hours a day, from the airport? Does it only go as far as Marbella?

Hi Mike

Yes, here is the information on Malaga Airport Bus.

4.03euros 45 minutes from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station. You then need to get another bus or taxi from there.

Winter runs every 1.5 - 2 hours...summer every hour.
