Malaga Airport to Periana

Hi Jo,

I am travelling to Malaga airport on Friday and then need to get to Periana. Do you know if the taxis at the airport will take me to Periana and, if so, approximately how much this would cost? Because of its location, I am assuming that this will be my only option.

Thanks
Claire

Hi Claire

Here is a map from Malaga Airport to Periana,

Its looks a little further than from Malaga to Marbella. Taxis here are around 80euros.

There is also a bus I see that goes from Malaga Bus Station to Periana. Theres 4 a day and takes around 1.15minutes.

I hope this helps.

Marbella to Barcelona

Hi Jo, We are Americans who are coming to Marbella in October. We are wondering how long a drive it would be for us to Barcelona from there--and if it is difficult by Car. After a weeks vacation in Marbella, we need to get from there to Barcelona. We are considering flying but we might have to pay additional fees for luggage. We would also consider the train, but are curious about the length of time to drive, just in case we decide that would be easier due to luggage. Could you give us your opinion?--Many thanks, Eliza

Hi Eliza

It really is a personal Choice. We have driven it stopping overnight halfway. Here is a google map and it says its about 10 hours driving which is about right.

If you are thinking of the train then www.renfe.es

Malaga Airprot to Cortijo Blanco Hotel

Hi Jo.Found your travel site on Google.. Hope you can help meIm travelling to Malaga Airport & I have to get to ' Hotel Cortijo BlancoAv Jose Luis CarrilloBenitez S NSan Pedro De Alcantara, 29760Spain. What would be the best way of getting there ie, taxi, train or bus?I'll be with my girlfriend & 2 x 12 year olds.Any info on rough prices & frequency of buses & trains would be very helpful. Thanking you in advance
Dan

Hi Dan

You could get the Malaga Airport Bus From Malaga Airport Direct to Marbella Bus Station. But then you need to get a taxi from there to Cortijo Hotel. May be around 15 to 20 €uros.

The bus is 4.03€ per person. So this would be the cheapest option.

Or you get a taxi all the way which will be between 80 and 90euros.

Train Times from Malaga Airport to Los Boliches

Hello, my name is Jill and my husband and myself are coming to Malaga on the 3rd August for two weeks in Los Boliches. I was wondering if you could let me no the times of the train from Malaga airport to Los Boliches. I have tried to look in up on your link but could not do it. We are flying from Bournemouth airport at 11.00 am on the 3rd so should be at Malaga airport between 1 and 2pm. I would appreciate your help. We have been told by friends that it is easy to get the train from the Airport. We have been to Los Boliches three years ago but on that occasion we got a taxi. Many thanks for your time and help. Jill

Hi www.renfe.es Trains run every half hour. On the website if you scroll down to where it says Cercanias you can then put in Malaga. Then Malaga Airport and Los Boliches. Then the day and time. Unfortunately when you put it into English - it doesnt show exactly the same but you can get the jist of it. Regards Joanne

How to get to Gibraltar from Malaga Airport

Hi there i have been looking for a flight to gibraltar from the east midlands but im looking at about £1300, can i land at Malaga and get a train or taxi in to gibraltar. many thanks bilps how much am i looking at for both train and taxi

Hi,You can get a taxi all the way to Gibraltar, it will cost a bit though. Alternatively you could take the airport bus to Marbella Bus Station 45 minutes 4.03€uros. Then change for the bus to La Linea but then you may need another bus to Gibraltar border. Alternatively you could also fly into Jerez Airport which is only about 1 hour away. Ryanair fly Jerez if this is any use.

Malaga to Calahonda by Bus Train or Cab

Hello Jo, I’m staying in a villa in Calahonda in a couple of weeks, flying into Malaga Airport. Taxis and car hire are quite expensive. Do you know of any bus/coach/train that we could take? Many thanks! Jo

Hi,You can either take the train to Fuengirola - the last stop and then catach a bus or taxi from there. This is probably the best option. www.renfe.es http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ Otherwise you have to go into Malaga City and then catch a bus. Or the airprot bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella but then you have to get a bus backwards to Calahonda. Regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Mijas

Hi, I’m looking to Travel from Bristol to Malaga in September and am staying in Mijas, is there a local coach service that I can take to get there from Malaga airport or would I bet better of catching a cab. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Many thanks Damien

Hi Damien

The easiest thing would be to catch a cab.

The cheaper option would be to go across the road from the airport and take the train to Fuengirola and then a cab to your final destination. Mijas is a large area and also a town so it depends on where you are.

www.renfe.es you need to go to "cercanias" Malaga - local malaga lines.

Malaga to Tarifa by Bus

Hi Jo,Found your email on a website. I am trying to get from Malaga airport to Tarifa. I know there are buses or trains, but could you give me a little more information? We arrive in Malaga very late, so I was wondering if you thought it better to stay in Malaga for the night, or do night trains run also? ALso, how long of a bus ride is it from Algeciras to Tarifa. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Kelley

Hi Kelley

The buses and trains dont run very late, till 11pm roughly. I think it would be more sensible to stay over night in Malaga and start fresh next day.

From Malaga Bus Station with this company http://www.estabus.emtsam.es/

There are 3 buses from Malaga to tarifa 7.30am 12 and 15.30. The journey takes around 3.5 hours.

Last time we came it was 2 years ago, and we paid 30 Euros in a standard cab, so wondered if the fares had increased or ewre comparable to the private quote above? Thanks,Regards,Nik

Train at Malaga Airport

Hola,
I found your E-mail address on a website message board and was wondering if you could help me. I was planning on taking the train from Malaga airport to Torremolinos on Wed 28/05/08 but this morning someone told me the train station at the airport is closed due to renovations. Is this true? If so, is there a bus that goes directly from the airport to Torremolinos? How many stops are there in Torremolinos and which would be the closest to Bajondillo Apartments/hotel on Paseo Maritimo S/N?
Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!
Lisa....Charlotte

Hi,There are alot of works on at the airport but we havent heard anything about the train station being closed. You have to follow the signs to the station as there was a temporary bridge going across. www.renfe.es Regarding the apartments, we dont know every station Im afraid. If you go to www.renfe.es go to Cercanias, Malaga and then Plano, you can see all the stations. Regards Joanne

Malaga Cruise Terminal - Malaga Port

Cruises are becoming more and more popular and since Malaga has built their new passenger terminal, numbers of passengers and cruises coming into the Port continues to rise which is fantastic for Malaga City with all the shoppers.

As we have mentioned before, we believe that Malaga is an underestimated City...everyone gets of the plane and drives right to the Costa Del Sol when Malaga City is fantastic with some lovely beaches too.

Malaga Airport to Hotel Grigo Mar Torremolinos

Hi JoGot your details from the Malaga Airport guide. Some great info there. This may be my first of a few questions over the next few weeks ! :-) I'm coming to Malaga Airport in July, staying at the Hotel Griego Mar in Torremolinos. If we were going to the hotel by bus or train, do you have to go from the airport to Malaga city, then from there on to Torremolinos ?Any idea how much a taxi might cost ? There would be 5 of us - two adults and three kids. Going to Africa for a day trip - any idea roughly how much it would cost, and would you say to go on an organised excursion rather than doing it ourselves ? Any idea how much the ferry would cost (just in case we do it ourselves) ? I went on the link from the airport guide and it keeps saying No sailing on this date - for all dates ! Are there any requirements for going to Africa - any jags / passport, etc ? If it would be ok, could you reply to both my emails (listed above), just so I can get your reply wherever I am - work or home. Thanks very much for your help.Gerry

1. Opposite airport is train station, goes straight to fuengirola. www.renfe.es go to cercanias which is local lines and type in malaga airport, then torremolinos. its cheap. 2. Torremolinos is close so only about 10 to 15 euros maybe but you will need 2 taxis and generally there is a minimum charge. 3. I personally would go on an organized trip, but the choice is yours. I dont know any people that do day excursion yet though. Although the hotels do normally arrange such things. 4. If you cant get through on the website I would call. Sometimes you cant buy tickets more than a few weeks in advance and sometimes the websites just dont work too well I hope this helps a little. Regards Joanne

Trains Malaga to Seville

Hi Jo, I've been investigating the possibilities of going to Seville by train from Malaga on the 18th 0f September this year, and although the information I'm digging up from RENFE is good I don't seem to be able to purchase tickets that far in advance. Would that be right? Obviously I don't want to turn up at the station to find that the trains are full, so any advice you can give us would be appreciated. We'll be arriving at Malaga Airport on that day, and if the chances of getting on the train to Seville are slight then I'd rather rent a car to be sure of getting to our destination on the day. Regards.................Bob Lindsay.

Hi Robert,I would give them a call personally on 0034 952 15 75 07 between hours 7am to 11pm
Like some lines in the Uk you can only buy 2 or 3 months in advance. But there is also works going on with the train lines and things are changing. Different places you need to change etc. Re Renting a car, You may well find it about the smae price, renting cars here can be cheap yu can get a quick quote here https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-car-hire.html Regards Joanne

Hi Karen In the arrivals hall Terminal 2 (main) there is a cafe, the only cafe where you could sit and wait for your bothter to come through. There are some works at the moment so do keep check on flights and which terminal as it may land in Terminal 1 but you can walk to that from Terminal 2, just a couple of minutes. Re getting to your hotel. Opposite the airport you can get on the train to Malaga City or as you come out of arrivales turn right and there is a bus stop 1 bus goes to marbella and the other goes into Malaga. Regards Joanne

Thanks Joanne.

Malaga Airport to Gaucin Transfer or Car Hire

Hi Jo

I am travelling to Gaucin with two other adults and a baby in August. Have you
any recommendations for transfer companies from Malaga airport? Also if I hire
a car what is the drive like unfortunately I cannot stand heights and i think
the drive there may prove quite steep ? have you any advice?

thanks

Ceri

Hi Ceri

I think you would be better hiring a car its a long way! On Googlemaps its just under 120km. Taxis charge around 1.30€uro per km. 2 ways...a car may be cheaper.

Most of the journey as you will see is along the coast...its only a short way up into Gaucin

Manilva to Gaucin, on Googlemaps is saying only 19 kms...around 15 minutes.

IS THERE PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO GET THERELEAVING ON FRIDAY MORNING, OR WOULD IT BE NECESSARY TO TRAVEL ON THE THURSDAY NIGHT? DO ALL BUSES FROM MALAGA STOP AT BENALMADENA?GRATEFUL FOR ANY INFORMATION AND HELP. THANK YOU Thomas Morris

Hi Thomas

To get to Benalmadena from Malaga Airport you are best getting the train. www.renfe.es

From Benalmadena you need to get a bus or buses here is the website for buses around Malaga / Marbella depending on where you are in Benalmadena there are 2 different stops. YOu would probably take the bus to La Linea and then change for Gibraltar. Alternatively you could go into one of the big hotels and see fi they have day excursions to Gibraltar.

Malaga Airport to Peurto Dequesa

Hi I saw ur response on blogger.com and thought you might be able to help me - I am flying into Malaga sat 10 May 21.30 and want to get to Peurto Dequesa ( south of Estepona ) but don't have to be there until Sunday 11May so was going to book over night accomodation somwhere maybe Malaga , Marebella , Estapona etc - I am going sailing on Sunday around Straits Gibraltrar - I was thinking of getting a train to Marbella and then a bus maybe ....any advise or travel tips welcome - thank you Susan

Hi Susan, The train only goes as far as Fuengirola So best to come out fo the airport and go to the bus stop and get the airport bus to Marbella Bus Station. All information here https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html Then you would need to change buses to get to Duquesa. Bus website here http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ From Marbella Bus Station you could also get a taxi to somewhere local for a hotel like Marbella Old Town. You dont want to go too far of the beaten track as you need to get the bus the next day for Duquesa. You could get a bus to Estepona and stay there. Estepona is quite nice and then not too far from duquesa.
I hope this helps Regards Joanne

How to get from Malaga Airport to Duquesa

Hi Jo,
I am emailing from a Sailing School in the South of Ireland. We are planning on flying some of our students into Malaga Airport. We would like to get a train from Malaga Airport to Puerto Del Duquesa. Would you be able to help us with trains? Any idea whether you can, with connections, get from Malaga to Puerto del Duquesa? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Kind Regards,Shane Mc'Auliffe

Hi,Sorry for the delay, I was away on holiday. The transport system is not that great at the moment. The train only goes as far as Fuengirola at the moment. Which is still quite a way from Duquesa. Its either a Train to Fuengirola then a costly taxi or bus. or Bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella costing 4.03€ then you will need to change maybe 1 or 2 times for a bus to Duquesa. The bus website is here http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ Gibraltar Airport is nearer if you can fly there. Regards Joanne

Places of interest on Costa Del Sol & Inland

Hi Joanne,
Whoops! I think I sent your information back to you!
Thank you very much for your help - I'd spent ages trying to find out about the buses to Marbella, and all I could find were the ones coming back to the airport and I seemed to be going round in circles. Your information will certainly come in very useful. It'll also mean we don't have to take a hire car back to the airport with an almost full tank of petrol, which we'd paid for in advance! In fact, I don't suppose you know of any car hire companies which don't charge for a full tank of petrol in advance?
Also, while I've got your ear, do you know of any little villages or towns worth visiting? We know Istan inside out, have done Ronda and Mijas lots of times, enjoyed Nerja, and have also visited Gibraltar, Cadiz, Seville and Granada. But what we'd love to find are some little fishing villages, or interesting places inland. Is there anywhere you might like to recommend? Oh, and we've already discovered the 'Lake District' from an article in a Sunday newspaper. So anywhere you might know about would be very much appreciated.
I could chat all day, but I'm taking your time.
Thank you again for the bus timetable/information.
Lindsay

Hi, Little fishing villages here on costa dont really exist anymore its all Marbella port and Puerto Banus. There is also Jerez (airport too) which is nice,Cordoba City, Monda , Grazalema, Caseres small town, Ojen small village, Castillar de Frontera is an old castle where there was a town but then they built a new town...very interesting. Places of Interest It would be great to hear anything from you, about new towns you find to put on on the message board. Enjoy Regards Joanne

As you come out of the arrivals hall at Malaga Airport there is a bus stop. One bus for Marbella and the other for Malaga City. Take the one to Malaga City and have your address that you need at hand to show the driver. This would be best.

Malaga Airport to Benalmadena By Train

Hi Jo, my wife and I are coming over to Benalmadena in early May(2008) quite a few years ago we visited Torremolenos & remembered that a train ran between the airport and Feungirola which also stopped at Benalmadena. Could you tell me if this is still the case and if so how often do they run and a rough idea of the cost. We are sprightly pensioners who are trying to keep the cost down as the taxi fares are, I believe quite expensive. If you could provide me with any of this information I would be eternally grateful.
Many thanks,

The train station is right near the airport where there is lots of parking everywhere.

Sorry, not too sure which Malaga Train Statin you Meant, assumed the Airport.

There is Parking at one of the Main Stations, its quite a lot of money per day. So you could leave it at the airport which is cheaper and get the train into the Station you need.

My husband, myself and 2 friends are landing in Malaga on November 9 and will be traveling to Marbella for 2 weeks. Would love to get some local info about: 1. What is the best way to transfer from the airport to Marbella2. We will be in Malaga on 11/23 for the day, departing on 11/24 to head back to California. What is a hotel that you would recommend.3. Should we be traveling via train, bus or car when we venture out of Marbella. I hope you don't mind me asking all of these questions. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards,Rhonda

Hi,From Malaga Airport to Marbella, the best way is by car. There is an airport bus that is very cheap which leaves every 1 or 2 hours and goes to Marbella Bus Station...so from there you need to get a taxi or bus to your desitination. A taxi will cost around 75 or 80 euros. A car hire might not be much more than a return journey. There is no train in Marbella so you would have to rely on buses...therefore I would hire a car. Do i take it you only need accommodation for 1 night? Andalucian Plaza Hotel is a short walk from Puerto Banus, then there is Fuerte Hotels in Marbella Town it depends on where you want to be. Here is a link to marbella hotels I hope this helps Regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Hotel Triton Benalmadena

Hi Jo

Myself and friends are planning a holiday to Benalmadena and are wondering how to get from Malaga airport. We are keen to use the train but are concerned about finding the hotel when we get there. We are planning to stay at the Best Triton, so long as we can get booked in.

We have stayed in Torri before and used the train, which was brilliant.

Many thanks

Janet

Hi Janet

best to give the hotel a call and check which is the nearest train station and how far from it they are. Then jump in a taxi for the last bit of short journey or walk.

Here is a map

Malaga to La Vinuela

hi,7 of us are flying to malaga in june and we are staying in la vinuela can you tell us if they is a local bus service.or is there any car hire company that you dont need a credit card for security after you have paid.

Hi Gail, A friend of ours has given us the following info.... I think taxi is the way to go; Vinuela is about a 15 minute drive fromthe coast at Velez Malaga. There are buses from Malaga to Velez Malaga, so Iglean from the net, but no direct route yet as Vinuela is a small hamlet.Taxis are cheap here, I would reckon 20-30 euros from Velez to Vinuela. Ifthey are staying at Hotel Vinuela they can hire a small car for about 70euros a week here.jo

Malaga to Gibraltar by Taxi

Hi Jo I wonder if you can advise me of an easy and cheap way of getting from Malaga airport through the Spanish border to Gibraltar without having to actually walk through the border. For example do you know if there are taxis going through the border from La Linea bus station, and if so how much roughly they cost? If not how much one way is a taxi from Malaga airport to Gibraltar, but again can it go right through the border into the centre of the town of Gibraltar or do all Spanish taxis have to terminate at the border leaving no option but to walk through? I am a lady travelling alone and I will have a lot of heavy luggage so really I can not walk more than a few metres with my luggage, which is why ideally I want to go right through the border in a vehicle which can transport my luggage.

With kind regardsGillian

Hi Gillian, hmm a tricky one, there is no way they you can go direct from Malaga into Gib in the same taxi. From memory all the taxis in Gibraltar seem to drop off at the border and vice versa in Spain. One answer maybe to get a Gibraltar taxi to pick you up at malaga airport but this would be very expensive! Here is a link to the Gibraltar Taxi Assoc, I am sure they can help! http://www.gibtaxi.com/ Good luck Jo

Bus from Malaga to Estepona at Night

Hi my name is Ami and we are coming to Spain for a holiday in July and read your helpful message to other travellers and we wondered if you could help us. We are arriving at Malaga airport on 3 July at 21.55 and need to catch a bus to Estepona, The Diane Park hotel and wondered if you could help with timetables, prices and directions.Hoping to hear from you soon, many thanks for your time Ami Lister

Hi Ami Bad news I am afraid, I am 90% sure that the last buses (direct and easy) from the airport to Marbella and then from Marbella to Estepona (the bus you need) stop runing at around 11pm. This is only a guess as the summer timetables arent out yet. Here is a link to the bus website, its in English aswell, you need to get to Estepona from Malaga Aeropuerto or Marbella Bus Station, there is a really good direct bus between the airport and Marbella. http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/horarios.html The other thing to do is contact the Hotel or who you booked through and see what they recommend, a taxi would be about €75 - €90. Good luck Regards Jo

Malaga Airport to Central Marbella

Dear Jo

I am travelling to Spain soon and wondered how much a taxi would cost from Malaga airport to Central Marbella and is it advisable to book a taxi beforehand or catch a taxi straight from the airport? Taxi is for 2 people.

Do some taxi companies charge more than others and can you recommend any to get at the airport?

Thanks

Jackie

Hi Jackie,

The taxis are pretty regulated BUT they don't have a meter!!! The prices are in a book and the taxi driver should show you this when you pay....however they often don't...

A taxi should cost about €65 for that trip and you find the taxis in a queue outside the arrivals hall. There are not different companies juts different drivers.

The buses are very good and cheap BUT you end up just outside of marbella centre...see here...

Good luck

Jo

Dear Jo

Thank you for your very quick response, you have been really helpful. The option of taking the bus is the best!

Thanks again

Jackie

Malaga Airport to Pueblo Quinta Benalmadena

Hi Jo,
I'm planning to come to Malaga next week and wanted to find out how to get from Malaga Airport to Mijas or to this address: Av. García Lorca Nº 8, Urb. Pueblo Quinta Fase II,
29630 Benalmádena-Costa, Málaga. Can you please tell me?
Also, I've never been to Spain before. Is it easy to get around Malaga? Does anyone speak English? Thanks for your help.

Colleen

Hi Colleen,

Most people here speak English although they may pretend not to!

If you don't know where you are going and you aren't driving then the best thing to do is a get a taxi at the airport...see here..https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Taxi.html

It should cost about €25 - €30, just show the driver the address.

The best advice is to ask the person who owns the apartment how to get there.

Hope all goes well

Regards

Jo

Jo,
Thank you very much for your reply. I saw that there is a bus service. Is that more reasonable than a taxi? Would it take me directly to the hotel?

Torremolinos to Gibraltar by bus

Dear Jo I am going to Torremolinos with a friend who has never visited Gibraltar, and she want to go for a day's visit. I am however not very good at travelling by rail or road for long periods of time due to travel sickness. Please can you advise the traveling time it would take to reach Gibralter from Torremolinos and also the best options for travelling as car hire and private excursions are not an option due to price and lack of driving license. Can you also advise if coaches or trains have restrooms aboard should I get travel sickness. Thanking you in advance K Clark

Hi The journey time from Torremolinos to La Linea is 2 hours 40 minutes. http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ima/pdf/torremolinos.pdf http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/horarios.html . You may then need to get another bus for 10 minutes to Gibraltar. Sometimes if you go to the big hotels in your area they do day excursions by coach which may be better.

You can give them a call
