Cats at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo, please can you help? i will be traveling from Dubai to malaga with my 3 cats around 22nd september and have been told that pets are only allowed to arrive into malaga airport on certain days?I have looked on several web sites but cant find any information on this subject.Any info you could give me will be much appriciated

Thankyou Julie

Hi Julie,
Jo has forwarded your email to me as I have first hand experience of bringing cats into Malaga Airport. There is no ruling that they can only be flown in on certain days, and in fact what happened to mine (despite being told otherwise) was that they were unloaded as normal luggage and put on the carousel! They were none the worse for the experience, but make sure you check with your flight cabin crew and ground handling crew when you get off the plane at Malaga where you should collect them from.
The only reason I can think of your being told they could only be flown in on certain days is maybe that the airline you are using only operates the planes that can transport animals then. The aircraft has to have a special section between the hold and the passenger cabin where they can be stowed.

Tolls from Malaga Airport to Gaucin

Hi JoanneWe're arriving at Malaga Airport from Canada late on Saturday night andwould like to make sure we are prepared with cash for the tolls on the wayto Gaucin turnoff. Do you know how much the tolls are along the AP-7?ThanksShirley

Hi Shirley The tolls are usually anything from 1.50€uro up to 6€uros. I thinki you will go through a few 3 or 4 to get to gaucin. The most expensive is from Benalmadena to Marbella at 5.85€ I think. Thens its a couple of euros. You dont need the exact change - they give you.Regards Joanne

Malaga to Madrid - Car or Train

Hi Jo,I saw your offer to help on the "On Blogger" site as I was doing some searching for answers to my upcoming travel concerns. Can you help?I have Questions about taking AVE from Madrid to Malaga then getting some transportation to our destination at the Marriott Marbella Resort. We'll depart Marbella 1 wk later and take a Vueling flight from Malaga to Paris.I note that the Portillo bus service is on strike. Is the Direct Shuttle a good option? (pretty pricey for a 50 km ride for 2). Do you recommend the train vs rental car from Madrid? Flying from Madrid to Malaga via Air Europa is less expensive than the 1st class seats in the train but we would miss some sight-seeing.If all this is too much and too much of an imposition, I'll understand. We new at European travel.Thank you,Ray & Marge

HI, The malaga AIrport to Marbella bus is direct and costs just 4.03€uros for 45 minute journey. Then you need to get a taxi or bus to your final destiation. My husband and many firneds have used this bus and happy. In summer it can get busy and hot though. I hear the train in fantastic I havent been able to experience it yet The website is here http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html Its really a personal choice. YOU could hire a car and drive too which may not cost that much. You can get a quote here. https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-car-hire.html

I hope this helps

Malaga Airport to Torremolinos

My daughter (17) and I are arriving at the airport at 23.20 on the 19th and I am trying to make my mind up whether to pre-book a taxi or shuttle bus to the hotel or get a taxi from the airport when we arrive as I have been reading several 'blogs' about whether this is safe or not and what price to expect to pay-I was coming to the conclusion this would be about 15-20 Euros-is this right? Given the time of night do you think a taxi is still the best, and maybe, cheapest option? Due to all the good info on your site, I was considering using public transport to go back to the airport as we need to be there for 9.00am and I am all for the experience of thisyour advice would be appreciatedthanks Alyson C

HI Torremolinos is really really close to the airport. 10 to 15 minutes. The taxis have a minimum charge of about 12€uros so it wont cost much although they will add a couple of euros for night charge. Taxis are outside and as long as you queue up and get in the white proper taxis you should be fine. http://www.renfe.es/ is the website for the trains. You need to go to cercanias - malaga which is local lines for malaga airport. You shouldnt pay more that 15 or 20 euros so if you find a shuttle or private transfers from Malaga the same or cheaper then book them. Its entitirly up to you.

Its under 8 km from Malaga Airport and only 12 minutes drive

Malaga Airport to Periana

Hi Jo,

I am travelling to Malaga airport on Friday and then need to get to Periana. Do you know if the taxis at the airport will take me to Periana and, if so, approximately how much this would cost? Because of its location, I am assuming that this will be my only option.

Thanks
Claire

Hi Claire

Here is a map from Malaga Airport to Periana,

Its looks a little further than from Malaga to Marbella. Taxis here are around 80euros.

There is also a bus I see that goes from Malaga Bus Station to Periana. Theres 4 a day and takes around 1.15minutes.

Marbella to Barcelona

Hi Jo, We are Americans who are coming to Marbella in October. We are wondering how long a drive it would be for us to Barcelona from there--and if it is difficult by Car. After a weeks vacation in Marbella, we need to get from there to Barcelona. We are considering flying but we might have to pay additional fees for luggage. We would also consider the train, but are curious about the length of time to drive, just in case we decide that would be easier due to luggage. Could you give us your opinion?--Many thanks, Eliza

Hi Eliza

It really is a personal Choice. We have driven it stopping overnight halfway. Here is a google map and it says its about 10 hours driving which is about right.

If you are thinking of the train then www.renfe.es

Car Trawler Car Hire with Auriga & Centaura

Hi Jo,

We have a problem. Our family group of 7 booked 2 cars via the CarTrawler
website for the 7 day period between 23 and 30 August. All appeared to go
well until we realized that each car was booked through a different agent,
AURIGA CROWN & CENTAURA. This is far from convenient as the CENTAURA
pick-up point is not even on the airport. Is there any chance that we can
amend the booking so that both cars are provided through the same agency,
preferebly AURIGA CROWN.

I do hope that you can assist us as our party consists of both elderly
people and young children, who will not be comfortable at being seperated
on arrival to an area with which we are not familiar. If you cannot assist
us, can you provide us with a contact e-mail address for someone who can.
Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Kind regards, Derek

Hi Derek,

Its Gary here, sorry to hear about that. It's very difficult at this time of year because many of the car hire companies are fully booked.

Here is a direct number for the Car Trawler Help Line / Call Center..00 353 1 499 9600

I hope that this helps and that you can get it sorted.

By the way Centauro are normally in Malaga Airport but as you will see when you get there it is undergoing a huge amount of recontsruction and this has meant a lot of temporary moves for companies etc.

Hope that you have a great holiday.

Regards

Gary Ingram

Cheap Places to Stay Marbella

Hi Jo,

My son has a flight booked to Malaga on 1st September and was meant to be staying with a friend in Marbella. Unfortunately, the accommodation is not now available and I was wondering if you could recommend anywhere that is reasonably cheap such as a camp site or small bed and breakfast. My son is 22 years old and this would be his first holiday on his own! He does not speak Spanish, but is very sociable, interested in keeping fit and was also born in the Year of the Tiger!

Hope you can point us in the right direction.

Thanks

Sue

HI sue

Here is a link to some hostells in Marbella

Some are ok. My dad has stayed in some right in the old town and loved it. I cant remember the name i thiink it could have been Hostel Paco but not 100%

basic but cheap and good location.

Malaga Airport to Rio Real Golf Resort

Hello Jo,

I found your email address on the Malaga Airport Guide website. Plus I am wondering if you can help with a few questions I have. Any help, or advise would be great.

Me & my partner is flying from Bristol airport, to Malaga Airport on Tuesday 19th August. Our flight arrives into Malaga Airport at 11.15pm. Now as we are on a budget, so are looking to find the cheapest option on travel to our holiday apartment, Which is in Rio Real Golf Resort, Marbella. The cheapest transfer I am able to currently find is almost £120 for the both of us.

However I am aware that there is a bus service running for the Airport, into Marbella. Looking on the Malaga Airport Guide website I can see a bus runs from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station, and that it costs just 4.03 euros, is that correct, or near enough?

Do you know, or can you confirm if the bus service is faithful? In others words, is it likely that that last buses at 11.15pm or 12mid-night do actually turn up on time, rather than not show up at all?

I would be greatful if you can get back in touch.

Regards,

HI

The last bus is at 0000 so if your flight is all on time then you could be in luck

here is the link for the Malaga Aiport Bus Timetable.
https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html

Then get a cab from there.

Do expect a queue for the bus and for it to be busy.

Also Transfers from Malaga

I am travelling on my own with a baby and a toddler and wondering if I should take a papoose for carrying the baby around the airport. thanks Karen

HI I havent used a pushchair for a while but normally they always let me take it to the plane. I often see lots of pushchairs around the duty free area. Regards Joanne
