Hi Jo -
I am really enjoying your site which I came across by accident.
I am flying in to Malaga from BC Canada, via UK with family - total of
five adults, for three weeks in December, including Christmas. We are
staying in an apartment in Fuengirola.
One basic question is which would be the best and least expensive way
for us to get around as a group.
Would a taxi from the airport be out of the question for five c/w luggage?
Then once we are settled we hope to do many day trips as the
information I have does not speak too highly of our location.
We'll start with the airport, and then I would really enjoy and appreciate
further input from you.
Thanks from J
My reply...
Hi J
The train from Malaga Airport goes to Fuengirola. This is the furthest point. So this would probably be the cheapest option. Taxis only carry max 4 people so you would have to pay for 2 which will be alot more expensive.
With regards to day trips etc, here are all the websites that have time tables and routes etc. You are quite lucky having the train station in Fuengirola as you can get to Malaga.
Here in Marbella, we are just reliant on buses.
Malaga Bus Station
Buses in Andalucia
Portillo Buses
Renfe Trains
Places to go. Malaga City is a great city and not too far away. There you have the picasso museum.
Granada...Alahambra Palace. Beutiful gardens, lots of history etc etc and as a city.
Sierra Nivada is in Granada, up the mountains where there is skiing available.
Gibraltar
Theres lots to do and if you are happy jumping on trains and buses, its quite cheap.
Another thing you could do is pop into one of the bigger hotels nearby and see what daytrips they do. Many coaches stop at the hotels for these trips.
I hope you have a good time.
Regards
Jo
