Malaga to Seville

Hi Jo,
I am going to be travelling in the EU in Nov/Dec but have had many problems organising getting to and from Seville. As a result we are rather looking at purchasing flights to and from Malaga airport. So could you tell me, is there a train that will be able to take us to Seville from Malaga airport and vice versa? The dates are: Malaga-Seville 16dec, Seville-Malaga 20dec. And could you please also tell me untill what time that train runs.
Thanks!Dominique

HI Go to www.renfe.es There are numerous trains all day

Malaga Airprot to Cortijo Blanco Hotel

Hi Jo.Found your travel site on Google.. Hope you can help meIm travelling to Malaga Airport & I have to get to ' Hotel Cortijo BlancoAv Jose Luis CarrilloBenitez S NSan Pedro De Alcantara, 29760Spain. What would be the best way of getting there ie, taxi, train or bus?I'll be with my girlfriend & 2 x 12 year olds.Any info on rough prices & frequency of buses & trains would be very helpful. Thanking you in advance
Dan

Hi Dan

You could get the Malaga Airport Bus From Malaga Airport Direct to Marbella Bus Station. But then you need to get a taxi from there to Cortijo Hotel. May be around 15 to 20 €uros.

The bus is 4.03€ per person. So this would be the cheapest option.

Or you get a taxi all the way which will be between 80 and 90euros.

Budget Hotels in Malaga

for 2 budget nights in Malaga?

Hi Jo, father and 11 yr old daughter will make a 2-night stop over in Malaga arriving Tuesday 22, before heading on for Lisboa.
Can you please recommend a budget hotel for the two of us?

We haven't in this area before, so we want to spend one day visiting Gibraltar and the other in the Malaga area just to get an overview (and perhaps a short swim).

We have to be in Lisboa on the 25, and the plan is to go by train (via Madrid, right?) - or can you suggest any other transportation?

I'm most thankful if you take the time to answer

HI Lennart

Sorry for the delay hope it not too late

malaga to Gibraltar is quite far going to be about 2 hours or more in the summer.

A few minutes from Malaga Airport is the Ibis Hotel which they advertise pretty cheap.

Here is a link to other Hotels near Malaga Aiport.

Malaga City is great.

Buses to Marbella from Malaga or Fuengirola

Hi Jo.

Me and my friend we'll arrive in Malaga from Granada by train, around August 23rd. Depending on how early we wake up we could be at the train station in Malaga either around noon or at 19.39 which seems a bit late. From there we need to come to Marbella, either by electric train + bus or just bus, depending on cost and connections.

In Malaga we do not know if the train to Fuengirola leaves from the same station as the train arriving from Bobadilla, or where the stop for the direct busses Marbella is. In Fuengirola we assume that the busses to Marbella leave from the train station, but we are not sure.

Can you please help us with inof about the two options (train + bus or just bus) in terms of price, connections, etc?

Many thanks

Alexandra
Montreal

Hi Vlad

To furthest towards marbella you can get by train is Fuengirola. From Fuengirola you probably can get a bus to marbella but it will stop at all the stops probably.

From Malaga Airport this is a direct Bus to Marbella Bus Station.

Here is the timetable but please do check with the offical website too https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html

Also from Malaga Bus Station in the City are direct buses too.

Waiting for Confirmation from Car Hire Companies

Dear Jo My partner and I are flying to Malaga Airport on 1st September for a 2 week driving holiday. I googled for car hire companies with ones that had Fiats as my partner is a Italian car nut and I found a company called http://www.cheapcarhiremalaga.com/ and we booked through them on Wednesday 16th July - we had an email saying they would get back to us but nothing further. Is this normal as we are worrying that the company does not exist or has ceased trading? Their website says they are based at Malaga Airport but it is not on the list of cars given. Have you ever heard of them? Best wishesKay

Hi Kay

Sometimes it can take a couple of days espeially now as its so busy. If they are a broker then its going through all the car companies to confirm a booking.

Have you heard anything back since?

You maybe stop the money going through if it hasnt already

We recommend car trawler https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-car-hire.html

Train Times from Malaga Airport to Los Boliches

Hello, my name is Jill and my husband and myself are coming to Malaga on the 3rd August for two weeks in Los Boliches. I was wondering if you could let me no the times of the train from Malaga airport to Los Boliches. I have tried to look in up on your link but could not do it. We are flying from Bournemouth airport at 11.00 am on the 3rd so should be at Malaga airport between 1 and 2pm. I would appreciate your help. We have been told by friends that it is easy to get the train from the Airport. We have been to Los Boliches three years ago but on that occasion we got a taxi. Many thanks for your time and help. Jill

Hi www.renfe.es Trains run every half hour. On the website if you scroll down to where it says Cercanias you can then put in Malaga. Then Malaga Airport and Los Boliches. Then the day and time. Unfortunately when you put it into English - it doesnt show exactly the same but you can get the jist of it. Regards Joanne

New Laws and Regulations regarinding Disability at Malaga Airport

From Spanish Airport Guide

With effect from 26th July 2008 all European airports will operate an assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility (in compliance with the European Parliament regulation EC1107/2006).

The articles of the Regulation apply to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility using commercial passenger air services at an airport situated in European Union territory.
Generally an airline passenger is considered to have reduced mobility when they need assistance to reach the exit door of the aircraft with enough speed to cope in an emergency evacuation. This also includes passengers who have serious difficulties in receiving or understanding emergency instructions.

This new regulation stipulates that it is the responsibility of the airport managing bodies (Aena in the case of Spanish Airports) to provide this assistance, whereas previously the individual airlines were expected to do this through their ground handling agents.

Malaga Airport to Cadiz

Hi Jo, I've just been reading your very helpful blogs and I wondered if I could pick your brain as I'm coming to Malaga at the end of Sept with my wife. What route would we take from Malaga airport to Cadiz. I have driven to Estepona in the past and I wondered if it is better that I carry on this road to Algeciras, and then head north or is there a more direct route. Is the raod to Cadiz from Algeciras a direct motorway, or do we have to head for Seville and by-pass the big National Park up there? How far is this trip and roughly how many hours to get there? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Joe Hanley (Scotland)

Hi Joseph.

Here is a google map from Malaga airport to Cadiz

You can go both ways. The road from Algeciras to Jerez / seville is a lovely new road to drive on so think this may be a better way.

I would allow around 3 hours.

Hi there! I got your info off the net and have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind… I want to go from Malaga to Morocco for a day and don't know if it is do-able. Here is what I think I know: Get bus to Marbella at the airport 45 minutes to Marbella bus station Change buses to Algeciras How long to get to Algeciras? Change buses to Tarifa How long to get to Tarifa? Take ferry to Tangiers (45 minutes) That’s an hour and a half so far to get there. We cannot stay overnight-have to be back in Malaga. Is there a shorter route or other city we could visit in Morocco? Or will the other legs of the trip be somewhat short? Please advise…Thank you for your help! VR/ Cheryl McGuire

Accommodation close to Malaga Port

Hi Jo

I stumbled on your website and am hoping you will be able to assist. My husband, myself along with another 4 adults and 2 children are coming over to Malaga in October and will stay 4 days prior to our cruise leaving. Where would you suggest would be the best area for us all, the children would obviously love the beach and the adults shopping, taking into account that we will have to book transfers from the airport to the hotel/resort to the Port.

I look forward to any advise you can give us.

Kind regards
Lorraine

There are some nice hotels in Malaga City. The one that I like the most is Larios Hotel which is right in the shopping street but you can walk to the beach too I think.

Malaga to Calahonda by Bus Train or Cab

Hello Jo, I’m staying in a villa in Calahonda in a couple of weeks, flying into Malaga Airport. Taxis and car hire are quite expensive. Do you know of any bus/coach/train that we could take? Many thanks! Jo

Hi,You can either take the train to Fuengirola - the last stop and then catach a bus or taxi from there. This is probably the best option. www.renfe.es http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ Otherwise you have to go into Malaga City and then catch a bus. Or the airprot bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella but then you have to get a bus backwards to Calahonda. Regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Mijas

Hi, I’m looking to Travel from Bristol to Malaga in September and am staying in Mijas, is there a local coach service that I can take to get there from Malaga airport or would I bet better of catching a cab. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Many thanks Damien

Hi Damien

The easiest thing would be to catch a cab.

The cheaper option would be to go across the road from the airport and take the train to Fuengirola and then a cab to your final destination. Mijas is a large area and also a town so it depends on where you are.

www.renfe.es you need to go to "cercanias" Malaga - local malaga lines.

Los Angeles to Malaga Flights

Hello:
I saw your e-mail on a blog. I am trying to find the best way to get to Fuengirola from Los Angeles - swimming is an option. We have 2 young children. Would Los Angeles- Madrid by plane, then Madrid Fuengirola by train be better than Los Angeles- London followed by London Malaga?
If you have any ideas, I would be happy to hear from you. Thank you.
Mircea

Hi, Fuengirola is an area about 25 minutes from Malaga Airport. So if you get to Madrid, you can either fly to Malaga Airport or get the Train. You would get the train to Malaga City and then change for a local line to Fuengirola. www.renfe.es I hope this helps. Delta airlines fly direct to Malaga from New York if this is any use to you. Hi Alison.

Firstly make people aware that you may need one, your airline, and also the air stewards. Generally there are buggies waiting when the airplane lands so you can just ask to use one.

When Arriving at Malaga Airport

Having just arrived back from holiday yesterday myself, the airport is extremely busy.

You have to keep your eyes on everything, your kids, your partners, your cases, your pockets. Please try and make sure you have your passports on you. If you are on your way on holiday buy a bum bag for the important small essentials, passports, money, keys and anything else you can fit in like jewellery.

Just take extra care, we came home to hear that someones suitcase with lots of valuables including passports had been taken whilst getting to the hire car place.

Now they have to spend a day or 2 getting emergency passports to get them home.
