Cheap Places to Stay Marbella

Hi Jo,

My son has a flight booked to Malaga on 1st September and was meant to be staying with a friend in Marbella. Unfortunately, the accommodation is not now available and I was wondering if you could recommend anywhere that is reasonably cheap such as a camp site or small bed and breakfast. My son is 22 years old and this would be his first holiday on his own! He does not speak Spanish, but is very sociable, interested in keeping fit and was also born in the Year of the Tiger!

Hope you can point us in the right direction.

Thanks

Sue

HI sue

Here is a link to some hostells in Marbella

Some are ok. My dad has stayed in some right in the old town and loved it. I cant remember the name i thiink it could have been Hostel Paco but not 100%

basic but cheap and good location.

Malaga Airprot to Cortijo Blanco Hotel

Hi Jo.Found your travel site on Google.. Hope you can help meIm travelling to Malaga Airport & I have to get to ' Hotel Cortijo BlancoAv Jose Luis CarrilloBenitez S NSan Pedro De Alcantara, 29760Spain. What would be the best way of getting there ie, taxi, train or bus?I'll be with my girlfriend & 2 x 12 year olds.Any info on rough prices & frequency of buses & trains would be very helpful. Thanking you in advance
Dan

Hi Dan

You could get the Malaga Airport Bus From Malaga Airport Direct to Marbella Bus Station. But then you need to get a taxi from there to Cortijo Hotel. May be around 15 to 20 €uros.

The bus is 4.03€ per person. So this would be the cheapest option.

Or you get a taxi all the way which will be between 80 and 90euros.

Accommodation close to Malaga Port

Hi Jo

I stumbled on your website and am hoping you will be able to assist. My husband, myself along with another 4 adults and 2 children are coming over to Malaga in October and will stay 4 days prior to our cruise leaving. Where would you suggest would be the best area for us all, the children would obviously love the beach and the adults shopping, taking into account that we will have to book transfers from the airport to the hotel/resort to the Port.

I look forward to any advise you can give us.

Kind regards
Lorraine

There are some nice hotels in Malaga City. The one that I like the most is Larios Hotel which is right in the shopping street but you can walk to the beach too I think.

Malaga Airport to Vime Campanario De Calahonda Hotel

Hi Jo, My husband and our 4 kids are landing in Malaga next Tuesday 3rd. We are on a bit of a budget for the week and wanted to know how easy and cheap it would be to get from Malaga airport to vime campanario de calahonda hotel in Calahonda by train. It would be really handy if you could help us out by giving us as much information as physically possible. Thanks for your time. Please respond to email addresses given. Thanks and best regards Tracie

HI Tracie,You can only go as far as Fuengirola on the train. Then you would need to either get a taxi or bus from there. Taxis only take 4 passengers so you would need 2 taxis. From Fuengirlola to Calahonda is about 13 kms. Taxis normally charge around 1.30euro per km You could get the airport bus to Marbella for 4.03€uros takes 45 minutes but then you need to take a bus all the way back to Calahonda. I would call the hotel itself and ask them. regards Joanne

Malaga Airport to Hotel Grigo Mar Torremolinos

Hi JoGot your details from the Malaga Airport guide. Some great info there. This may be my first of a few questions over the next few weeks ! :-) I'm coming to Malaga Airport in July, staying at the Hotel Griego Mar in Torremolinos. If we were going to the hotel by bus or train, do you have to go from the airport to Malaga city, then from there on to Torremolinos ?Any idea how much a taxi might cost ? There would be 5 of us - two adults and three kids. Going to Africa for a day trip - any idea roughly how much it would cost, and would you say to go on an organised excursion rather than doing it ourselves ? Any idea how much the ferry would cost (just in case we do it ourselves) ? I went on the link from the airport guide and it keeps saying No sailing on this date - for all dates ! Are there any requirements for going to Africa - any jags / passport, etc ? If it would be ok, could you reply to both my emails (listed above), just so I can get your reply wherever I am - work or home. Thanks very much for your help.Gerry

1. Opposite airport is train station, goes straight to fuengirola. www.renfe.es go to cercanias which is local lines and type in malaga airport, then torremolinos. its cheap. 2. Torremolinos is close so only about 10 to 15 euros maybe but you will need 2 taxis and generally there is a minimum charge. 3. I personally would go on an organized trip, but the choice is yours. I dont know any people that do day excursion yet though. Although the hotels do normally arrange such things. 4. If you cant get through on the website I would call. Sometimes you cant buy tickets more than a few weeks in advance and sometimes the websites just dont work too well I hope this helps a little. Regards Joanne

Hello ladies and gentelmen!
I´m a student from Austria and I´m sorry but i don´t be able to speak any spain words so I try to explain you my problem in english. I have to plan a trip at school to malaga. We will arrive at the Malaga airport on june the 28 th 2008 at 17:50 o´clock. We were 6 persons wich stay at the Picasso's Corner Backpackers Hostel, San Juan de Letrán nº 9.Our big problem is, that we are not able to read the bus plan how to come from the airport to the hotel. It would be very nice of you to help me and if it is possible send me an english bus-plan by e-mail.
I hope my english is not so bad and you can understand my problem.Have a nice day!Lisa

Hi Lisa

As you come out of the arrivals hall at Malaga Airport there is a bus stop. One bus for Marbella and the other for Malaga City. Take the one to Malaga City and have your address that you need at hand to show the driver. This would be best.

Malaga Airport to Hotel El Fuerte Marbella

Hello Jo,
Wonder if you can help me? I am flying to Malaga airport on Sat April 12th arrive at 18.45. With my daughter, I was going to get the airport bus to Marbella as we are staying at the El-fuerte Hotel in Marbella. Would you know the directions from Marbella bus station to this hotel and if it is far? I have tried emailing the hotel, but they dont reply.

Thank you very much.

Regards Donna

Hi,
There are 2 el Fuertes I think in Marbella so you need to check which one. But they are both towards the Sea (so in Marbella Town).

Probably best to have the address on you and get a taxi for a few euros. shouldnt be more than 10€uros probably less but check.

Hotel Rincon Andaluz

Hi Jo, I just discovered you on the web and wondered if you would be kind enough to answer my question. I have just booked a holiday in june to the Hotel Rincon Andaluz and have seen it called the RIU Hotel Rincon Andaluz. Do you know if this hotel still belongs to the Riu group or not? We have stayed in Riu group hotels in the past and have been very impressed by their good standard. Your help would be most appreciated. Muchos Gracias. Malcolm Holland (in England).

Hi Malcolm, As far as I am aware its name is still Riu Rincon and part of the Riu Group. There are road works at the moment as they are building a tunnel past there. I know people who have stayed there and they have like it. I hope you have a good time

Hotels in Marbella

Jo,I just stumbled on your email saying that you were happy to provide information about visiting your wonderful part of Spain. My husband, myself and 2 friends are landing in Malaga on November 9 and will be traveling to Marbella for 2 weeks. Would love to get some local info about: 1. What is the best way to transfer from the airport to Marbella2. We will be in Malaga on 11/23 for the day, departing on 11/24 to head back to California. What is a hotel that you would recommend.3. Should we be traveling via train, bus or car when we venture out of Marbella. I hope you don't mind me asking all of these questions. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards,Rhonda

Hi,From Malaga Airport to Marbella, the best way is by car. There is an airport bus that is very cheap which leaves every 1 or 2 hours and goes to Marbella Bus Station...so from there you need to get a taxi or bus to your desitination. A taxi will cost around 75 or 80 euros. A car hire might not be much more than a return journey. There is no train in Marbella so you would have to rely on buses...therefore I would hire a car. Do i take it you only need accommodation for 1 night? Andalucian Plaza Hotel is a short walk from Puerto Banus, then there is Fuerte Hotels in Marbella Town it depends on where you want to be. Here is a link to marbella hotels I hope this helps Regards Joanne

Vialia Shopping Centre Malaga

Vialia Shopping Centre is a brand new Shopping Centre in Malaga. Its actually in the Estación María Zambrano (Maria Zambrano Train Station). Its just 2 minutes walk from the Larios Centre, Malaga.

The Station looks amazing and when you get there you really feel ñyou want to jump on a train to Barcelona or Madrid.

The Shopping Centre has all the usual shops like Zara, Zara Home, Imaginarium, Massimo Dutti, Sfera and lots more.

Upstairs there is Cinema, Restaurants and Entertainment Centre.

Vialia Centre is open 10am to 10pm. It was opening Sundays and may still be open but best to call first. Its actually illegal for them to open but there are loopholes as its a Station so they say that they can be open.

There is lots of parking and if you spend over 15euros then parking is free.

Telephone Number for Vialia Shopping Centre is 0034 952 04 09 15

To get to Vialia Shopping Centre you can get on the train from Malaga Airport or any of the stops along the C1 (Cercanias Renfe) or the C2 Alora and get off at Malaga Renfe.

Adjoining the Vialia Shopping Centre is also the Barcelo Hotel

Malaga Airport to Barcelo Golf Hotel Guadamina

HelloI got your email address from a Malaga website and wondered if you could possibly assist me with some travel information.

We have visited Costa del Sol on several occasions over the pastfifteen years, staying mostly at Arroyo de la Miel and Benalamadena.Next month, however, we are going to the Barcelo Marbella Golf Hotel atGuadalmina for 11 nights. We have previously always travelled from Malaga Airport to our destination by train which is, as you know, is very reliable andcheap. This time, I am a little less sure of how we should get to ourhotel. We tend to avoid taxis wherever possible, as they seem to makeup the fare every time.My first thought was to take the train to Fuengirola then a bus to SanPedro, followed by a taxi to the hotel. Is this feasible?I see there is an airport bus to Marbella, but we have been to thatbus station before and it was fairly remote and I don't recall anyconnections from there to San Pedro.

Perhaps I am mistaken and wouldappreciate your advice.

I would be very grateful indeed if you could advise the best way forus to get to the Barcelo Golf Hotel from the airport.

We arrive atMalaga at 1605 hours on 16 September.

Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Kind regards

Philip

Hi Philip

It is going to be difficult and take you quite a while.

I think best to call the hotel and ask them what buses stop near their hotel. And if they think any come from Marbella Bus Station.

Here is the website for the buses from Malaga Airport and over the Costa Del Sol It does look like there is a bus, although, Im not 100% sure either, as i have a friend who gets a bus from San Pedro to Marbella Town and then Changes for the Shopping centre.

Have you thought about Private Transfer from Malaga Airport

I think the airport bus to Marbella bus Station and then changing buses would be better but I personally would probably hire a car or just get a taxi. When you get in the taxi they actually have a book chart which you can ask to look at. All the prices are written down for you to see.

The buggers at the airport keep covering a sign with the prices up as you leave arrivals hall. Some are ok, but some are very very naughty.

In a few years time, you should be able to get a train all the way along as there are plans for the trains stations.

If you ever come again and want to be clsoe to Puerto Banus we also have a holiday apartment at www.lamaestranza.eu

I hope this above helps a little. The transport is a bit of a problem here at the moment.

Youth Hostels in Malaga and Mijas

Hello, Please can you help me. I want to travel to Mijas or Malaga from Malaga Airport. Can you tell me : How far it is to both places? Are there good public transport links? How much does it cost roughly? Also, Do you know if there are any Youth Hostels or other cheap accommodation in the area. Ideally I would like to stay in Mijas but don't mind staying in Malaga if it isn't too far away. Thanks for the offer of help. Andy

Hi Andrew

A great website to look at for distances in www.googlemaps.com

Malaga Airport to Malaga City is about 15 minutes. I would think that here as its a city there are quite a few hostels around. You can get a train from Malaga Airport to Malaga.

You can find all info www.renfe.es

Mijas is about 25 minute drive from Malaga AIrport. The train stops at Fuengirola which is near Mijas so you would have to get a bus or taxi to your final destination.

Here is link to youth hostels

Good morning. I hope you can help me.

Next week I am staying in the Rincon Andaluz Hotel, Carretera De Cadiz 173km, Marbella.

I cannot find a website for them that gives directions from Malaga airport to the hotel by car. Can you suggest a website or attach directions to a return email?

Thank you in anticipation.

Irene Liddle

Hi Irene,

Its on the N340 just kind of Past Puerto Banus. So continue on the N340 pass Nueva Andlaucia, Puerto Banus (big El Corte Ingles Sign on the left) going towards San Pedro. As you drive from Puerto Banus to San Pedro, Rio Rincon is on your left so you need to go up to the next roundabout and come back onyourself.

I hope this is clear.

Hotel near Malaga Airport

Hi JoLike your web site re Malaga airport. Can't find what I need tho.I want a one night B&B stopover for Weds 30 / Thurs 31 May convenient to the airport so that I can travel on the next day by local buses. I do not know Malaga or this region at all. Looking on the web, it is all holiday accommodation. I am a 67yr old male travelling light (hand luggage only) to join a friend somewhere along the coast west towards Gib. I have booked a flight from Coventry to Malaga for convenience but there is only one a day and it arrives too late in the day for onward travel. I could get the last fast bus of the day to Marbella but then get stuck for 7 hours overnight at the bus station. I looked at your FAQ and I expected to find the answer but it is not there (yet!). I cannot be the only one needing this. thanks , Bob A

The nearest hotel to Malaga Airport is the IBIS HOTEL Malaga. YOu can find this hotel on malaga-airport-guide.com and go to hotels.

THere is not a hotel at the airport at the moment.

If you got the bus to Marbella Bus Station you still then need to get a bus or taxi to either marbella or puerto banus to stay in a hotel. There are lots of b and bs in Marbella Old Town and also PYR HOtel in Puerto Banus.

I hope this helps.

Hotel Torrequebrada Benalmadena

Jo,

Eliz here we are planning a holiday in malaga and want something special i have found a hotel
on the net its called Torrequebrada Hotel and Casino, Benalmadena do you know this hotel ?

Also could you let us know how far it is to walk inside the terminal from arrival gate to
taxis etc....

Also how far from entrance to departure gate for Belfast ?

I have also sent you an email from the malaga air port site which is where I got your details ,,,

Many thanks,

Eliz and Liam .

My Reply...

I have heard of Torrequebrada Hotel and Casino and have heard that the shows are really good and also the food.
From inside the Terminal where you collect your luggage to the taxis is not far at all. Just 1 or 2 minutes walk.
Planes from Belfast Im not too sure.
The walk can be quite a long walk from where you leave the plane to collect your luggage depending on where the planes land etc. generally Iberia (spanish airlines) gets the best spots.
If you are asking as maybe you need one of the buggies, generally they are there when you depart the plane.
I hope this answers your questions.

Malaga Airport Open all night.

hola jo
que tal?

i was wondering if you coul give me a litle advice.

I am coming into malaga airport from scotland at about 2.30AM next week. And i see no point in getting a hotel for 5 hours. so thought i would be ok to wait at the airport till the morning.
Is that ok? or is malaga an airport that closes at any time of the night?

Malaga Airport to Hotel Dos Mares Tarifa

Hi Jo,

I came across your name whilst looking for directions in Spain. I need to know how to get from Malaga Airport to Hotel Dos Mares, Crt. Nacional 340, km. 79.5, 11380 Tarifa - Cadiz.

I'm really hoping that you will be able to help me because I have had no luck so far.

Kind regards

Peggy

My Reply...

If you mean driving, Its quite easy, really once on the right road from Malaga Airport, its a straight line more or less.

Go to www.googlemaps.com type in Malaga Airport to Tarifa and a map will come up with driving directions on the left.

I hope this helps.

Tarifa is fantastic!

Hotels near Malaga Airport

Hi,
Me and my family, four adults and one child at 10, arrives at Malaga airport on April 1 at 00:25. I understand that the car rental is closed by then. Is there an airport hotel or the like on the site, so that we can check in for the rest of the night?

My Reply...

Hi,

The nearest hotel is a short taxi journey away and is the IBIS, near Malaga Airport. Unfortunately the website seems to be down at the moment but think it is www.ibis.com

Or you could go a little further and stay right in Malaga City where there are numerous hotels. Malaga City is really quite nice with lots of things to see.
Hope this helps
