Puerto Banus

A Guide To Puerto Banus

Between Marbella Town  and Estepona lies Puerto Banus. Renowned as a holiday resort and home to the rich and famous,  Puerto Banus offers one of the best year round climates in Europe. Puerto Banus, is home to some of the finest shops and restaurants in Spain and has a large yacht marina and offers you beaches with views towards Africa and Gibraltar.

Until 10 years ago, Puerto Banus was so exclusive only a few people had actually heard of it, but in recent years "The Port" has grown and what once consisted of just two roads and a marina has now developed into an International Resort.

Here is a great video from Sol Channel that gives you a quick insight of Puerto Banus.

How to get to Puerto Banus

Jump into your Hire car and follow our driving directions from  Malaga Airport or book your own private Puerto Banus Airport Transfers and you will be in Puerto Banus within 45 minutes of leaving the Airport. The journey is around 65kms.

You can also catch a Bus although this involves a change at Marbella and unfortunately there is no train service. Puerto Banus is also within 10 minutes of Marbella Town with La Canada Shopping Centre, 20 minutes of Estepona and 40 minutes from Gibraltar.

Puerto Banus Car Hire

We meet a lot of people here, especially with kids, that after just a couple of days of sitting by the pool or on the beach want to get out explore the area, and the best way to do this is to hire a car.

Taxis from Malaga Airport to Puerto Banus should cost around €70-80 each way. If you book a rent a car early enough, it may not be much more to hire a car for a week, than the two trips, to and from the airport.

Puerto Banus Shopping Area

The El Corte Ingles Department Store is somewhere between Selfridges & Debenhams and caters for every shopper's need.  Marina Banus is an indoor shopping centre and has mainly Spanish shops like Zara, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, and also a Terra Sana Restaurant downstairs. There was a Pilates Gym but this seems to have closed down.

One of the largest Markets on the Costa Del Sol is the street market in Puerto Banus which starts at the bullring and continues down the road into Puerto Banus itself. It is held every Saturday morning and starts around 9:00ish and finishes at 2:00-300 pm. The bullring is just off the map below and is just behind the top H. Do take care of your bag around the market and in the summer drink lots of water - there is no shade!

More on Puerto Banus

I feel that the Puerto Banus actually has two personalities - day time & night time During the day it is a beautiful Mediterranean port with endless outdoor coffee shops and restaurants catering for every taste and culture, not to mention a shoppers paradise with all the latest designers shops in Puerto Banus.

After about 10:00 pm the clubs and bars really get going and it turns into a much noisier and busier club and night life area.

My favourite time is between 8:00 pm and midnight strolling around the shops and eating Al Fresco.

The summer is obviously much, much busier than the winter. From November through to March the main nightlife takes place from Thursday till Saturday. Although most restaurants are open throughout the week. Short Breaks Puerto Banus and Winter Breaks in Puerto Banus can be great as the weather can be fantastic even in the winter.
