Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Information

The new Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport was officially opened on 15th March by the King of Spain and passengers can now access it from the Departures forecourt.
There is still a lot of confusion at the airport with more signage needed and some areas which are not yet open. With this in mind we we are going to get together some definitive information about Malaga Airport over the next few weeks when things have died down and we can present a more accurate picture.
There is a transportation hub which links the new T3 terminal, the bus station, the pedestrian access to P1 and P2 car park buildings and the train station.
There is still work in progress at Malaga Airport which is due to be completed at the end of 2010/start of 2011: the second runway is still being constructed. It will have three rapid exit runways and a parallel taxi way to link up the new aircraft apron and new building for the fire fighting service.
The airport will have two new accesses: south access via the A7 and north access via the new Malaga west ring road.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Disabled Access
Passengers with reduced mobility can obtain assistance by pressing the button on the at the information desks and meeting points which are situated in all the Terminal 3 zones.
The new Terminal 3 has seven points of assistance for passengers with reduced mobility and offers:
- Different floor coverings at the start and end of stairs and ramps.
- Double handrails on stair bannisters.
- Lifts with interior handrails and Braille and raised signage
- Adapted Check-in desk
- Adapted Toilets
Airlines at Malaga Airport Terminal 3

Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Departures
Check-in desks in Terminal 3 are located in two zones. Access to the the terminal is from the departures forecourt with desks 301 to 362 straight ahead and to the right desks 363 and 386.
There are 86 new check-in desks (desks 301 and 362 for special baggage) and 8 automatic check-in machines, divided into 2 groups of 4.
A central security checkpoint with 9 security filters leads on to a large commercial area that leads to the boarding dock.
The Departures level has 11 baggage reclaim carousels (9 European Union and 2 non-European Union) and one special baggage reclaim carousel.
The new automated baggage handling system will be able to handle 7,500 cases per hour, with an approximate processing time of 3 minutes.
The new terminal has 3 boarding docks: Dock B for non-European Union non-Schengen traffic. Dock C for European Union non-Schengen traffic and the new Dock D for Schengen traffic (both European Union and non-European Union ). The 4 boarding gates located at the end of Dock D can be used for non-Schengen traffic.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Transportation Hub

There is transportation hub which links the new Terminal 3, bus station, pedestrian access to P1 and P2 and suburban train station.
Lifts and mechanical ramps provide access to the transportation hub's Arrivals and Departures levels. From arrivals you enter a large square (atrium) over the bus station and the terminal arrivals floor.
At the Departures level lifts connect to the terminal via air bridges that link up with the car parks.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Taxis
There is a taxi rank on the arrivals forecourt of Terminal 3. You can check the fares at www.unitaxi.orgy or www.taxi-union.es. The supplement to/from the airport is €5.50; the supplement per suitcase over 60 cm is €0.45.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Buses
There is a bus stop on the T3 Arrivals forecourt, next to the transportation hub (Line Aeropuerto-Malaga and line Aeropuerto-Marbella) and a bus stop opposite to the Cargo Terminal (Line Malaga-Santa Amalia).
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Trains
The suburban train will continue to stop at its old platform with access via the pedestrian walkway that links P1 and P2 with the transportation hub and T3.
The new train station which will be accessible from the transportation hub comes into operation at the end of 2010.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Car Parking
Malaga Airport has 2 public car parks. P1 opposite Terminal 1 has 2,500 spaces and is new car park built at the entrance to the airport connected at the north end to P2.
P2 has 1,200 spaces but is currently closed due to building works. Both car parks are linked to Terminal 3 through the transportation hub.
Malaga Airport Terminal 3 Passenger Services
There are two currency exchange offices in the terminal. One is located in Departures (Dock D), and the other in Arrivals, in the baggage reclaim hall
The VIP lounge is located in the Departures zone, one floor above the shopping area.
The tour operators are located in the arrivals lobby in T3.
Lost Luggage/Property at Malaga Airport Terminal 3
The lost property office in the new terminal 3 at Malaga Airport is located in the check-in zone behind desks 363-386.
Lost luggage or objects left on the aircraft should be reported at the airlines' lost luggage offices in the baggage reclaim zone.
Shops at Malaga Airport Terminal 3
The new T3 terminal provides passengers with a shopping area of more than 10,800 square metres offering 41 shops and places to get something to eat and drink.
The retail outlets include the usual Aldeasa duty free shops plus fashion and accessories brands including Adidas, Adolfo Domínguez, Björn Borg, Cottet, Ferrari, Lacoste and Travel Mate plus establishments that specialise in music, books, cultural gifts, toys, press, jewellery, gastronomic products, and sweets and chocolates: Cristal Media, Libros Como Luces, Museum Shop, United Labels Store, Desire, Mixed Point, National Geographic, Prensa, Superskunk, Sibarium and Sweet Market.
Bars & Restaurants at Malaga Airport Terminal 3
There is a good selection of cafés and restaurants in Terminal 3 at Malaga Airport including Burger King, Café y Té, Caffè Ritazza, Dehesa Santa María, Gambrinus, Four Arrows, Lamoraga Airport, Nestlé, O'Learys, Pizza Hut, Sea Food Bar, Soho Coffee Co, Starbucks, Upper Crust, VIPs and Whopper Bar.
