A brand new car park now provides a total of 2,500 new parking spaces. Works are still continuing on the new access roads and coach station but its great to see such major changes taking place. Terminal 1 opened with its extension of 12 new check in desks, 3 more boarding gates and another luggage carousel and eventually there will also be a new runway. Malaga Airport Information
Malaga Airport is currently the fourth busiest Airport in Spain and in 2009 it handled almost 13 million passengers and operated 119,807 flights. Malaga Airport has two terminals which are interconnected on the upper level. 90% of its passengers arrive at Terminal 2. There is still a fair bit a of construction work being done at Malaga Airport with the new terminal due to open next Easter, and delays to and from the airport are likely. The new Terminal 3 opened last month and there is still a lot of confusion at the airport with more signage needed and some areas which are not yet open. With this in mind we we are going to get together some definitive information about Malaga Airport over the next few weeks when things have died down and we can present a more accurate picture.
The airport will have two new exclusive accesses: south access, via the A7 and north access, via the new Malaga west ring road. There will also be a new underground station with a double track which can be accessed via a transportation hub.
There is a brand new Holiday Inn Express Hotel just opened up and is the nearest hotel to Malaga Airport now.

The Costa del Sol stretches for about a 1½hour drive west of Malaga Airport towards Gibraltar and about the same distance to the east towards Nerja.
The whole area has been popular with tourists for over 40 years and the resorts are more than able to cope with the ever increasing numbers of people passing through Malaga Airport.
As we have holidayed here in the past and now live here, in Nueva Andalucia, where we have our own holiday apartment to rent in La Maestranza Puerto Banus.
