Malaga Airport to Nueva Andalucia

Nueva Andalucia is an extremely popular place to come to from Malaga Airport as its so close to Puerto Banus. But like Puerto Banus, it isn't that easy to get to via public transport.

From Malaga Airport to Nueva Andalucia according to Google Maps it is 58.9 km. But this does depend on where about in Nueva Andalucia you are staying. Its quite a large area from near Puerto Banus back to La Quinta. Normally a 45 minute drive via the Toll Road or Coast Road. The Coast Road can get very busy during peak times.

 

Come out of Malaga Arrivals Hall and you will see the taxis outside. The Malaga AIrport Taxis will drive via the Coast Road unless you tell them to drive via the Toll and pay the extra (a few euros). Taxis will charge around €80 depending on the time you are travelling.

As you come out of arrivals and turn right there are the Malaga Airport Buses .There are 2 buses. One bus goes to Malaga City. The other is a direct bus to Marbella Bus Station and takes 45 minutes and costs just €4.26.

From Marbella Bus Station you can then take another bus to Nueva Andalucia or a taxi . Here is the timetable of the Malaga Airport Bus. The Marbella Urban Buses may also be very useful whilst staying in Nueva Andalucia too. Local buses are €1.15. Line 4 goes via many urbanisations in Nueva Andalucia so its worth having a good look at the website and maps.

The Malaga Airport Train only goes as far as Fuengirola at the moment. There are plans to extend the service at some point to Marbella but this will be a while yet. . Therefore if you wanted to take the train you would need to either change and get a bus or Taxi from Fuengirola to Nueva Andalucia. More info at Trains at Malaga.

 

To hire a car at Malaga isn't as expensive as many think. You can get a quote at the top of this page. Once you have your car the journey is just 45 minutes to Nueva Andalucia providing you don't get lost. Here are driving directions from Malaga Airport. As you are driving, if the sea is on your left you are driving towards Marbella / Gibraltar. if the sea is on your right then you are driving towards Malaga / Nerja.

 

The absolute cheapest way to travel from Malaga Airport to Nueva Andalucia would be to get the direct Malaga Airport Bus to Marbella Bus Station Cost €4.26 and then change for the Bus to take you to Nueva Andalucia. Or you could get a taxi from the taxi rank at Marbella Bus station.

 

The quickest way to Nueva Andalucia from Malaga Airport is by Private Transfer. A Private Transfer driver will be waiting for you in arrivals hall so no queuing up. Then Taxi, then hiring a car depending on the queues.
