Malaga Airport to Estepona

Estepona is also a very popular place to go on holiday as like Marbella. Estepona is an area and also a town like Marbella. The town is lovely with lots of cafes and ice cream parlour. The beaches are lovely too and there is a lovely walkway along the beach front.

From Malaga Airport to Estepona according to Google Maps it is 81.5 km. Normally an hours drive from Malaga Airport.

 

Come out of Malaga Arrivals Hall and you will see the taxis outside. The Malaga AIrport Taxis will drive via the Coast Road unless you tell them to drive via the Toll and pay the extra (a few euros).

Taxis will charge between €90 to €120 from Malaga Airport to Estepona depending on the time you are travelling. Read our Taxis at Malaga Airport page for more information. A taxi back from Estepona is normally a little less. To call a taxi from Estepona the number is 0034 952 802900.

As you come out of arrivals and turn right there are the Malaga Airport Buses. You have 2 options. Take the Direct Malaga Airport Bus to Marbella Bus Station and then change for a bus to Estepona. Bus from Marbella to Estepona run from 6.15am to 22.40 every 25 mins to 30mins. The journey takes 1hour 10 minutes.

If your flights lands after the last bus you need to take a taxi. The other option is to take the bus number 19 from the Airport to Malaga Estacion de Autobus and then a bus from there to Estepona. Buses from Malaga to Estepona run from 0500 to 2130 approx.

I personally think the first option is the easiest. Here are the links for the Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus , Marbella to Estepona Bus , Malaga AIrport to Malaga Bus Station (Choose Line 19). For the local buses in Estepona go to the main bus website then Estepona Servicio Urbano.

The Malaga Airport Train only goes as far as Fuengirola at the moment. There are plans to extend the service at some point to Marbella but this will be a while yet. . Therefore if you wanted to take the train you can only go as far as Fuengirola. From here you have to take a bus to Marbella and then change again for Estepona or a taxi Trains at Malaga. Personally we wouldn't recommend this route.

To hire a car at Malaga isn't as expensive as many think. You can get a quote at the top of this page. Once you have your car the journey is about 1 hour drive to Estepona. Here are driving directions from Malaga Airport. As you are driving, if the sea is on your left you are driving towards Marbella / Estepona.If the sea is on your right then you are driving towards Malaga / Nerja. You will find that to hire a car at certain times is much cheaper than 2 taxi journeys.

The absolute cheapest way to travel from Malaga Airport to Estepona would be to get the bus either from Malaga Airport to Marbella to Estepona, or Malaga Airport to Malaga to Estepona. Do expect to take over a couple of hours by bus. We personally recommend hiring a car from Malaga Airport to Estepona.

The quickest way to Puerto Banus from Malaga Airport is by Private Transfer., Hiring a Car at Malaga or Malaga Taxi. We personally would recommend hiring a car especially if you have children or are on a time limit. If you are a single person or couple and aren't in a rush then by public transport is fine.
