Malaga City
We go to Malaga City frequently, mainly to get that City feeling that we just love sometimes, coming from London.
Every time we go, we realise that Malaga is a lot busier than we originally thought. Malaga is really growing and at the moment there is a lot of building work around the City as soon there will be a Metro for the City, plus all the work being done at Malaga Airport.
In the future, Malaga will be such a fantastic City to travel around and with the new railways being constructed and new Malaga train services to Madrid and one which will eventually travel along the Costa Del Sol.
During this winter half term we decided that we were going to stay where we live and be a tourist for a change.
So we drove to Malaga City and parked in the main car park underneath the city. We then went to the tourist office and picked up leaflets about the Open Top Red Bus. They showed us where the bus stop was and off we went.
Malaga City Video
Let's take a short break. . . . here is a video of Malaga City which is brought to us from Sol Channel.
Malaga Sighteeing Tours
The Red Sightseeing Tour Bus was €15 for each adult. Our 5 year old was allowed on free. The whole tour is around 1.5 hours, and you can jump on and off whenever you want (at the stops). The ticket is valid for 24 hours so if you stay overnight it is really good value.
We got to see a part of Malaga that we had never seen before. Around the Port Area and the bus went up to Gibralfaro Castle, along by the Picasso Museum and Cathedral.
You could also see Malaga Beaches, which really looked fantastic. It even stopped at the Larios Centre and Vialia Centre. So rather than drive back and forth we left our car all day in the car park and just jumped on and off the bus. It was really great fun and our little girl loved it. Warning . . . the steps on the bus are really steep and we did have a small accident so take care with little ones.
We stopped off at the Vialia Centre for some pre-Christmas Shopping and some lunch. The bus comes every 30 minutes so you know when to be back at the stop.
We didn't get to the Picasso Museum as our little girl was too tired, but it looks great. It is also free the last Sunday of every month.
After a very long day we went back to the car and drove home. It took quite a while as the traffic was really bad getting out of Malaga because of all the roadworks.
A great day out.
