How many Malaga Car hire companies are there?

This is an almost impossible question to answer. You can search the internet with any search term related to Malaga car hire and you will receive at least 150,000 pages offering you information.

How do you choose the best Malaga Car Hire company with the best prices?

Before we moved to Spain and used to come here on holiday, my wife sorted out the car rental for Malaga Airport and I sorted out the flights. I was annoyed as we always ended up collecting our car from the company that had the biggest queues.

By the third trip I questioned her choice of Malaga car hire companies, she gave me one of those looks and pointed out that the reason we were in the biggest queue was that the company she had chosen had offered the best deal on car rental at Malaga airport and obviously everyone else had chosen the same!

 

At the start of 2009 a quote for an Economy Car and a Driver Age of 37 from 1st June 2009 until 14th June 2009 with collection and drop off times at 10:00 were coming out as:

• Crown Car Hire £205.00
• Budget £274.00
• Hertz £344.00
• Avis £374.20
• Europcar £379.46

That's a difference of £215!!! You could buy your flights with that money.

Although a couple of companies came close and near enough matched the price, I have come to the same conclusion as my wife, Spanish Airport Guide Car Hire offer the best overall package for Malaga Car Hire.

In total 23 car hire companies currently operate at Malaga Airport although only 10 of them are actually based within the terminal building at Malaga Airport.

Car Hire Pick-Up at Malaga Airport:

Access to the car rental desks is via a ramp located in the baggage reclaim hall  and before going through the final doors to the Malaga Airport Arrivals hall. You will notice large car hire signs that point you to a ramp that takes you downstairs to where all the car hire offices are based.

Once you have picked up your keys, a member of staff will inform you on which level of the car park your rental car is situated on and also the number of the bay that it will be parked in.

You will then exit this hall via a shallow ramp that brings you directly out to the car parks at Level -1. Rental cars at Malaga Airport are located over three levels which are the Ground Floor, Level -1 and Level -2.

The majority of pick-up cars are parked on the ground floor and level -1.  Auriga Crown, Europcar, National Atesa, Record, Solmar and Sixt are on the Ground Floor and Autos Lido, Avis, Goldcar, Hertz, and both National Atesa and Record represented again on Level -1.

Car hire Drop-Off at Malaga Airport:

When you return your rental car you will access Malaga Airport via Avenida Garcia Morato which is the approach road that comes off the N-340 national road into Malaga Airport.

Just after the roundabout you will see all the relevant road signs which indicate what lane you should be in to access the different areas of Malaga airport. Car rental return will be the first exit road to your immediate left.

Follow the car rental return signs until you reach the entrance for the car rental car parks which is situated just past the regular P1 parking entrance bay. Once inside, simply follow the relevant car hire company sign which will lead you into the specific area for that car hire company that you have hired your vehicle with.

Passengers are not required to return the keys to the original terminal based office as there is a corresponding office for each car hire company on one of the three floors.  Sixt in fact has 2 offices and these are on the ground floor and Level -2. Autos Lido, Avis, Goldcar, Hertz and Record all have their offices on Level -1, while Auriga Crown, Europcar, National Atesa, Sixt and Solmar´s are situated on Level -2. The car hire desks located on level -2 are also for use by people renting a car but not flying from Malaga Airport.

The car hire desks in Terminal 1 are located to your left just before you exit the sliding doors into the arrivals hall.

There are 5 car hire firms with desks here and these are Auriga Crown at Malaga Airport, Autos Lido at Malaga Airport, Europcar at Malaga Airport, National at Malaga Airport and Sixt at Malaga Airport.

Once you have picked up your keys a member of staff will inform you on which level of the car park your rental car is situated on and also the number of the bay that it will be parked in. You will then go through the sliding exit doors and into the arrivals area. From here exit terminal 1 to your left and cross over the road to Car Park P1 that will be directly in front of you.

Rental cars at Malaga Airport are located over three levels which are the Ground Floor, Level -1 and Level -2. Once you have crossed over from Terminal 1 into the car park you will be on the ground floor level of the car parks. Here you can access the lifts to the relevant floor if the rental agent has informed you to do so.

The majority of pick-up cars are parked on the ground floor and level -1.  Auriga Crown, Europcar, National Atesa, Record, Solmar and Sixt are on the Ground Floor and Autos Lido, Avis, Goldcar, Hertz, and both National Atesa and Record represented again on Level -1.

If you are using an offsite car hire company for your car hire then the majority of the car hire firms run a dedicated courtesy bus that either schedules runs to and from Malaga airport every 15 minutes or uses the flight details of the customers to turn up at the right time. These buses will collect you from just outside the arrivals terminal by the regular bus stop which is around 50 metres down on the right after exiting the terminal.

The majority of the offsite car rental firms are located on a slip road running adjacent to the approach road into Malaga Airport which is called Avenida Garcia Morato.

Car hire firms with offices located here are Auriga Crown (also with a desk inside the terminal building) Cargest, First Car Group, Holiday, Malaga car, National (also with a desk inside the terminal building), Niza, Pepecar and Top rent-a-car.

Another four offsite Malaga Airport car rental firms are located just over the roundabout, after the BP garage on the right hand side in Edificio Checkpoint which is right next to the train station for Malaga Airport. These are Autolink, Marbesol, Tony´s rent-a-car and Yellow Car.

The car hire companies located here are well connected to Malaga Airport via a footbridge that runs over the main road. To find the footbridge when exiting Malaga Airport, go up 1 floor from the arrivals hall which will bring you out into the departures hall on level 1, exit the terminal and turn right, follow the signs for the train station, which will lead you a little further down the road before making you cross over to go through the car park where the footbridge is located.

A further 2 car hire firms are located slightly further away in the Villa Rosa industrial estate which is situated on the opposite side of the N-340 national road in relation to Malaga Airport. These car hire companies are Centauro and Global Car Hire.
