Lost luggage at Malaga Airport with Flybe

I have just read your article on the web and the problem I have is lost luggage. Leaving the search to Flybe has yielded nothing so I am forced to try alternative methods to try and find it myself. Do you have any ideas of who I should contact at Malaga Airport. Flybe are of the opinion that my suitcase was untagged and is still in Malaga. Could I employ anyone who could search lost or unclaimed luggage? I would be most grateful for any ideas. With regards Stella

Hi Stella Sorry to hear your bad news. Here are a list of all telephone numbers. Lost luggage and fly be numbers at Malaga are on this page. https://malaga-airport-guide.com/malaga-airport-telephone-numbers.html

Did you lose a Green Photo Album at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo,

I saw your blog and wondered if you might be able to help….

My wife, daughter and a friend flew with EasyJet from Malaga to Gatwick on Sunday 22nd June 2008 (leaving Malaga at about 10pm). The flights were good, but the luggage handling was not….one suitcase was minus the handle and wheels, and another was missing altogether. Luckily the missing suitcase arrived on a later flight and it was delivered to us this morning. However, it contained a green photo album that does not belong to us. The album contains family photographs and comments in English, it looks as though it might have sentimental value and we think it belongs to a family living in the UK.

If someone is missing their photo album (and would like it back !), please contact me on 01252 838226.

Regards,Nick.

Hi, Thanks for the email I willl post it up on the messageboard and hopfully someone may email us back Regards joanne

Hand Luggage at Malaga Airport

I know Luton airport only allows one carry on bag, but returning from Malaga May 14th will I be allowed to carry a handbag as well, or does it have to fit inside the other one ?

Penny Robinson

Hi Penelope.

Its not as strict from here. It should be only 1 peice of hand luggage but the other day my husband went through with small suitcase and bag.

If I was you be prepared to be able to put it in one bag if you can. Things also depend on their moods.

Where can I leave my Luggage in Malaga

Dear Jo,

I fly from UK to Malaga on Sunday 13 April arriving at 10.30 am. I have a friend coming by car from Madrid
to meet me and pick me up, but he wont be there until around 6 pm.
So, as I speak Spanish fluently and am fairly well travelled, my idea was to hang out in the old town, visit
Picasso museum whatever, and meet him later.

My question is: where would be a good meeting place? (Picasso Museum maybe?)
where could I leave my luggage SAFELY? (he mentions a restaurant, but doesnt sound good to me)
I thought I might be able to leave it in a hotel... if so, is there a hotel near there.
Ok, I suppose I am asking you, if you were in my situation, what would you do? I want to be in a nice and safe part of town(he si spanish and suggested the old town, there is a pedestrian area I believe.

Thank you Jo for your help,

I dont really know if hotels will take luggage from someone not staying with them.

There is an El Corte Ingles shop in Malaga, before the city centre. The el corte ingles here in Puerto Banus will hold bags for up to 24 hours...they may do it there too.

you culd always ask in the hotels.

Luggage damaged at Malaga Airport

Hi, I came across your blog of the Malaga airport guide and I have aquestion.
I just returned from Malaga to Bucharest, when I got home I noticed anextra sticker with a barcode and the writing 'AGP/27FEB XH 009266' next tothe severed elastic strings on top. I assume the sticker was placed byMalaga airport staff after the damage was done to my backpack. What can Ido in this situation, is there any chance of compensation for the damageto my backpack, what does the extra sticker with the barcode and all mean?
Looking forward to a reply.
Best regards.

Hi,You need to take pictures and phone up your insurance company and get intouch with the airline. The airlines use different baggage companies. The problem is that sometimes the excess is more than the damage. and in the end you end up not claiming. This happens all the time Regards Joanne

Stolen Jewellery at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo
On returning from Malaga last September my suitcase strap was missing at Gatwick. Later on I realised that some items of jewellery were missing. Thinking that I may have left these items in Spain but I couldn't check until our last visit in January this year. the items are definitely missing and I suspect taken from my suitcase at Malaga.
Have you had any other reports of missing items? Should I inform the local police? If so can you let me have their address.
Many thanks for your help

Mrs G M Jackson

Dear Mrs Jackson.

Unfortuantely, we have received numerous emails of the same nature. I think you should inform the airline as they use certain baggage handlers and they need to know what is happening, although i wouldnt get your hopes up.
952 231 620
is the number for the Police at Malaga airport.

Good luck,

BA Hand Luggage 2 bags now

Hi Jo

I will be travelling from Malaga via Heathrow to Sydney in February. British Airways have advise that we can now take two pieces of hand luggage from Heathrow, but does this apply to Malaga also. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Angela Foster

Hi,
We just flew back with ba and yes they have changed their policy and you can now take 2 peices of luggage.

Malaga should allow you the same if flying ba....its their rules.

So unless they change back to 1 I would say it should be fine.

Left Luggage Malaga Airport

Hello Jo Can you tell me if there is a 'left-luggage' facility at Malaga Airport? I shall be arriving there quite early in the morning and my outbound flight is not until the evening so it would be handy to leave my luggage while I go out to spend some time in Malaga. Colin Gearon.

Colin,Sorry no left luggage at malaga. best to ask though as maybe the more people that ask the more chance of one going in. El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus hold bags for 24 hours, maybe the one in malaga does the same. this could be an option. If you do find somewher it would be great to hear from you as this is a common problem. Regards Joanne

Lost suitcase with Jet 2 at Malaga Airport

Jo,

Not sure if you can help.

Returned from Malaga airport 3 weeks ago, our 1st (&probably last) trip to mainland Spain.

Our suitcase never returned to Leeds Bradford and I am devestated. Jet 2 are not been helpful - they just tell us they can not find it and we have to put in a claim.

Any advice? I do not want to put in an insurance claim, I just want my suitcase back.

i have read various messages on your site and it sounds like it may have been stolen at Malaga airport. Is this likely?

Thanks in anticipation.

Alison

Hi Alison,

During the busy period numerous suitcases went missing. There was one good ending where the suitcase did turn up.

Someone could have picked up up by mistake at your end or maybe it didnt even get on the plane, therefore is still in Malaga Airport. Give Malaga Airport a call

New Luggage Rules from Monarch Airlines

Here are the new luggage charges that Monarch Airlines have introduced. You can find the below on their website here too Monarch Luggage Charges

Baggage Charges
NEW HOLD BAGGAGE POLICY - From 19 September 2007 all customers booking scheduled flights (flight number ZB) departing after and including 01 November 2007 will have to pay for each piece of hold baggage they take.

Why do you now charge for hold baggage?
As an airline we incur baggage handling costs for hold baggage and it is now common practice amongst airlines to charge for hold baggage in order to keep our flight prices as low as possible.
Passengers are encouraged to take only hand baggage, where possible, as there is no charge for hand baggage and you can take up to 10kg in a single bag measuring up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. See below for more details.

How much does it cost to take hold baggage?
Pay online and save up to £6 per bag!
Online (flymonarch.com) = £3.99 / €5,99 / CY£3.99 per bag, per one way flight
Call centre = £8 / €12 / CY£8 per bag, per one way flight
At the airport = £10 / €16 / CY£10 per bag, per one way flight
Is hand baggage still free?
Yes, you can take up to 10kg of hand baggage free of charge.
What is the weight allowance for hold baggage?
Regardless of the number of bags, your total hold baggage allowance is up to 20kg per person (up to 30kg for Vantage Club Silver & Gold members) - this can be split into up to 5 separate bags. Any hold baggage over 20kg will be charged at excess baggage rates. The maximum weight of any 1 item of hold baggage must not exceed 32kg.

I have already booked my flights, do I have to pay?
If booked before 19 September 2007No, you will not have to pay for your hold bags as per your booking fare rules.
If booked on or after 19 September 2007 Yes, if your flight departs on or after 01 November 2007 you will be required to pay for your hold baggage. If your flight departs before 01 November 2007 you will not be required to pay for hold baggage.
I'm flying before 01 November 2007, do I have to pay?
No, the new hold bags charges will only be applied to flights departing on or after 01 November 2007 onwards. Flights booked on or after 19 September 2007, that depart BEFORE 01 November 2007 will not have hold bag charges applied.
I'm flying on a charter flight (flight number MON), do I have to pay?
No, the new hold bags charges are only applicable to scheduled flights (flight number ZB).

How can I pay for hold baggage?
Online - Pay online and save up to £6 per bag!During the booking process - you will be presented with the option to pay for your hold baggage on the "bags & seats" page. Just select the passengers you are adding bags for and whether it's for the outbound "flying out" or inbound "flying back" flight and then choose the number of bags from the drop-down list.
After booking - if you don't pay for your hold bags when your made booking you can return to flymonarch.com, go to the 'my account' area and select 'change a flight' in order to add hold bags and pay the online charges. NOTE if you have already paid for hold bags and wish to increase the number of hold bags a passenger can take you will have to do this via our call centre, call centre charges will apply.

Online check-in - you can add hold bags to your booking as you check-in online. NOTE if you have already paid for hold bags and wish to increase the number of hold bags a passenger can take you will have to do this via our call centre or at the airport, applicable charges will apply.
You can also add pre-allocated seating or upgrade to extra legroom seats here too.
Call centre - as part of your flight booking you'll be asked to pay for your hold baggage. You can add or increase your number of hold bags via our call centre at anytime after your initial booking, up to 4.5 hours prior to departure.

At the airport - if you haven't pre-paid for your hold baggage you can pay at the airport, however this will cost £6 more per bag than paying online and may involve some extra time when checking in.

If we're travelling on the same booking can we combine our hold baggage allowance?
Yes, you can combine your hold baggage allowances e.g. you can pay for 2 bags and take 1 large bag or 1 large and 1 small bag. Note unused hold bag charges are non-refundable, please ensure you only pay for the number of bags you will be taking. Any single item of hold baggage cannot exceed 32kg.

If we're travelling on the same booking can we combine our hand baggage allowance?
No, you cannot combine your hand baggage allowance.
If we're travelling on the same booking can we combine our hand & hold baggage allowances?
No, you cannot combine your hand and hold baggage allowance in any circumstance.
I have paid for hold bags, but have decided to only take hand baggage, can I get a refund?
No, the hold bags charge is non-refundable. Please ensure you only pay for the number of bags you will be taking.

I am changing my flight dates, do I have to pay again for hold bags?
If you change your flight dates your hold bags charge will transfer to your new booking. However if you decide to take fewer or no hold bags the charge is non-refundable.
Do I have to pay to check-in items of hold baggage that are not suitcases or bags e.g. parasols, tennis racquets...etc

Yes, any individual item (regardless of size, weight or nature) that is checked into the hold is subject to a hold baggage fee. Please refer to the main baggage faqs page for information about what can and cannot be carried as hand baggage.

I've paid to take sports equipment; do I need to pay a hold baggage charge as well?
No, the hold baggage fee is included in the sport equipment fees.

Do I have to pay to check-in pushchairs, car seats, prams and wheelchairs?
No, these will be free of charge.

I booked my flights via a travel agent / tour operator, do I have to pay the hold baggage charge?
Unless your travel agent / tour operator booked your flights on flymonarch.com, the hold baggage fee will have been included in the price you paid. Please contact the travel agent / tour operator you booked with to confirm whether or not the hold baggage fee has been included in your booking.

How will check-in staff at the airport know how many bags I have paid for?
Details of your booking and the number of hold baggage charges you have paid are automatically sent to the airport check-in systems.

Lost Property Office at Malaga Airport

There is a Lost Property Office in Malaga Airport in Terminal 1.

As you enter the Main Depatures Terminal 2, walk in and go left passed all the Gates. As you walk down the slope you enter terminal 1

Go passed the Post Office / Correos, Chemist and Place of Worship and at the very end is the office for Lost Property.

If you have lost an item and are still in Spain, personally I think it would be best to go in person unless you speak good Spanish.

I find that once in person things are much easier and you are more likely to get a result.

Handluggage plus Handbag at Malaga Airport

Dear SirPlease can you let me know if you are allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage in addition to a handbag on flights out of Malaga.

Thank youMrs Susan

Hi Susan,
It seems to depend on the mood of the staff in the airports.

Here in Spain, they dont seem too bothered about a small handbag and hand luggage, but on some days they have been.

My husband travels alot and always trys to leave enough room in his hand luggage to put is "Manbag" in.

At luton airport in the UK they are really really strict and only 1 peice is allowed.

I think you will be ok taking 2 peices, but it really can depend on the mood of the staff that day.

Confiscated Goods at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo,

I don’t know if you can help. We travelled home to Bristol last night on Easyjet Flight 6058 and going through security our duty free bottles - one Campari and one Spanish Vodka (purchased in Nerja), were confiscated. The Easyjet flight steward thought they may have gone to lost property and that perhaps if we offered to pay the postage then they could be returned to us in England. We rather naively thought that we could take them in our hand luggage. Is there anything we can do?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards.

Hi,
We are not the airport,.

Unfortunately, I really dont think there is anything you can do. It happened to some friends of ours a while ago, lost all their wine.

Sorry,

Hand Luggage Size for Thomsonfly

sorry if I'm useless but I just can't work out how to post on your site, so I am sending this email.
I am travelling to Malaga Airport on 21st August with Thomsonfly. The Late Deals company I booked my Thomson holiday through tell me they can confirm the size for the hand luggage should be no bigger than 56x45x25, this includes the wheels, 5 kilos of hand luggage per person. In the Thomson brochure where I first found the holiday it says
Hand luggage max size to be 45 x 35 x 20 no more than 5kgs, so I am confused as to size.
Do you know how they measure the hand luggage and how strict are they?

many thanks. Christine

ps I envy you living in Spain, I am very tempted myself.

Hi Christine,

Here is the page about luggage with thomsonfly.

http://www.thomsonfly.com/en/flywithus_2753.html
It says a slightly different size to the 2 you have already mentioned which probably wont help much.

But I would take notice of what is written on Thomsonfly Website.

I hope this helps

Left Luggage at Malaga

Hi Jo

My son (and, of course, his wife) are currently honeymooning in Malaga, and have just sent me a text to ask if it possible to leave luggage somewhere at the airport so that they can look round the town. Can you offer any advise regarding this?

Cheers
Norman

Hi Norman,
The last time we checked there was still no left luggage.

This is a common question and sometimes people keep hold of their hire car to store the luggage in.

I really cant help with this one im afraid.

Lost baggage at Malaga with Alitalia Airlines

Hello Jo, i was hoping you could help me. My daughter is currently holidaying in Mykonos, but boarded her flight firstly in Malaga with Alitalia to Rome, then flew Rome to Mykonos on Aegean. Her bags never arrived and she has been unable to even locate them at this point. I am in sydney australia and have been ringing every possible number every day, both at Aegean and Alitalia, aswell as Malaga and JMK airports, but have got nowhere. They never pick up the phone, and if they do, they tell you that you have the wrong department and give you another number to ring which also turns out to be incorrect.
We are desperate now, as my daughter returns to australia on wednesday the 1st august, and fears she will never see her bag again.
the details are as follows:
She departed 17th july at 3.00pm on alitalia flight AZ91 arrived rome 5.30pm
Then flew from Rome to Mykonos on Aegean flight A31771 departing at 8.25pm arriving 11.40pm
She was issued a baggage number :JMKA310963, and also given another number 055AZ237554 at mykonos airport when she went to the aegean office upon arrival ,and when her bag never came off the baggage carousel.
We would be so grateful if you could either direct us in the right direction, or if you could forward this information to the correct department.
our australian address is the following

Dear Mandy,
Sorry for the delay but we have been inundated with questions.

All unfortunatley similar to yours.

We are not the airport and can only pass on information that is already on the message board with regard to loss property telephone numbers.

What you could do is go to www.aena.es at the top put it into english. then choose malaga airport. You could then find the airlines and baggage handlers numbers in this website.

Every email at the moment is about lost property, I wish I could help.

You could try the airlines at malaga airport have a look at www.aena.es go to english at the top then malaga airport. Then on the left hand side you can find airlines.

I hope this helps

Lost Sunglasses on Plane at Malaga

Hi Jo,

I left my sunglasses on the Easyjet flight 2413 from Luton to Malaga last Saturday 14th July. They fell out of my handbag when I put it under the chair in front of me. They are designer glasses in a soft black case with a popper clip to close. I can't remember the make, but the arm pieces have a little heart shape cut out of them (if I have remembered correctly). Could you please check with lost property and see if the cleaning staff handed them in. I really miss them.

Thanks.

Lynn Winter

Hi Lynn,
Thank you foryour email, but we are not the airport.

Lost Laptop at Malaga Airport

Hi,Is there an email address for lost luggage because, the phoneline isconstantly engaged.I left my bag this afternoon around the gate C44. It is a quite smallrucksack containting a Fujitsu Siemanns Laptop.

Can you help me.

Regards,

There is no email address only the telephone numbers which everyone is saying is engaged.

If you can get to the airport or get someone else to go, this would probably be the best chance to get your bag back. Maybe also try calling the airline that you flew with at Malaga, maybe one of their staff found it when everyone boarded.

Hi Kim,

902 404 704 is the main aena number - you could speak to someone there and then try get put through to someone in Malaga.
I will put your email up on the message board, you never know the other person with your case may get in touch to, then I could exchange yournumbers.

Personally, if you are here in Marbella, i would go to Malaga Airport and try sort it out there. I dont think things get sorted too well over the phone. If the other person didnt pick your case up then it is there in the airprot in left / lost luggage....I think this is your best option.

I have put the email up and if anyone emails in I will let you know.

He is attending the language insitute CollegioMaravillas for three weeks to learn spanish. When he was picked up bythe schools assistant, he discovered that he did not have his wallet inhis pocket. It might have been stoeln from him, but it is also likelythat he has forgot it on board. I know from Oslo airport that the planereturns to Oslo at 1210. They tell me that if personel on board findsthe wallet, they will turn it in at Lost luggage at Malaga Airport. Icannot find any number og email adress there, could you help me findthat? It is a rather delicate matter, since he is only 14 and is now withoutany money. The wallet was a black leather wallet and contained 120Euros and 1500 Norvegian kroners. He was seated in row 1 window seat onthe right hand side in the plane.i don`t know if you can help me out, but I would be grateful for anyinformation on how to get on with this matter. If it is not found, Iwill have to report it to the police I guess, but the best would be tofind the wallet, of course!Thanks,Ann-Cathrin Marcussen

Lost Luggage at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo,I flied to Budapest from Barcelona Airport on 12 July and my luggage did not arrive after checking it in in Barcelona. Why I turn to you is because in Budapest they say that my bag was accidentally sent to Malaga Airport and it is still there, but after 6 days nothing happened, no answer from Malaga Airport. 6 days have passed and no news about my bag, while normally bags are found within 2 days or so... Could you give me the email adress of someone responsible in lost luggage issues there, at Malaga Airport? I only found this email adress on the website. Please answer as soon as possible!

Thank you a lot, in advance,

Reward for camera Stolen at Malaga Airport

I was really hoping you could help in some way.

We travelled through Malagaairport yesterday (6/7) and upon arriving home, realised that our camera hadbeen removed from our case.

The monetary value is not really a concern but this is likely to be our last holiday as a family, as my daughter has aterminal condition, therefore, the photos mean everything to me. Do you knowof an email address I could use to contact the airport to put up a reward? Iam not concerned with getting anybody into trouble but having the camerareturned to me would mean the world. I would really appreciate any adviceyou could give. Many Thanks
Connie

My Reply...

Dear Connie,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Here is a previous question with all the telephone numbers. There is no email address.

Each airline uses different baggage handlers. So, it would be a good idea to get in touch with your airline direct (head office) and see which baggage handlers they are using.

This is a common problem at Malaga Airport and I receive emails every day. Unfortuantely, noone is doing anything about it, but I do say that you must tell your airline and inform as many people as possible in order for one day something to happen.

Im sorry that your camera is missing and about your daughter and I will put your message up in the hope that someone may know something about it.

Kind regards

Distance from Baggage Collection to Arrivals Hall Malaga Airport

Hi there,
My wife and I will be flying to Malaga at the end of July, she is disabled
and can only walk a few yards (or metres if you prefer) without assistance.
My concern is the distance she will have to walk from baggage collection
(where I believe wheelchairs/buggies stop), to the main reception hall where
our family will be waiting with a wheelchair. If the distance is
considerable I may have to consider bringing our own wheelchair on the
aeroplane to manage this part.
I do appreciate the assistance you publish on the net it was a great help.
Our airline (Globespan) have been very helpful but were unable to offer us
any help or advice when leaving the baggage collection area.
Regards,

John Linale

Hi John
Where luggage collection is to the arrivals hall isnt far at all about 20 meters although this may be far for your wife. The long distance is from the airplane to the baggage collection.

I hope this helps and im pleased that our information on Malaga Airport Guide has been of use. We are really trying our best to give more information for people with disabilities, but we can only rely on people giving us their real feed back.

Any information you think could help others after your journey would be appreciated.

Have a good holiday

Lost Property Office at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo

I wonder if you can give me some advice, please.

In April when I arrived at Malaga, I dropped a cardigan/jacket somewhere in the arrivals building. I have tried to ring the Lost Property department, but unfortunately my Spanish doesn't stretch to a full conversation - yet!

Do you know the opening hours for Lost Property? I travel out to Malaga again tomorrow and wonder if I could call in, in person in an attempt to try to recover my lost item.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Best wishes,
Carol Scott

HI Carol,
I dont know the Lost property Office Opening hours but would think that they would be open at least from 10am to 8 or 9pm if not longer. The lost property Office is on the top floor in Reception.

Carrying Baby Milk in Hand Luggage

Hello Jo

We are travelling from Malaga to UK with a 4 month old baby and are worried about how we can carry sufficient bottle feeds for the journey, allowing for delays etc, which could mean carrying three bottles each of 200 ml. Can you advise please on current airport policy?

Thank you very much.

Sharon Kirk

Hi,
To be honest Im not 100% sure. If its liquid, they may ask you to test it and if its powder too.
Best thing to do is to acutally call your airline or better still call the airport (0034) 952 048 838. to double check.

If it is sealed cartons that may be ok.

Good luck

Carrying Tools in Luggage - Malaga Airport

HiI have two Engineers flying back from Malaga to England tomorrow (Fri 30th March). They have roughly 23kg of tools that they need to bring back. Also, if they take the tools to the airport and then find that they can't take the them, is there anywhere within the airport that they can be kept until a courier can collect?A quick reply would be much appreciated. Many thanksCally

Hiring pushchairs at Malaga Airport

Dear Malaga Airport
I'll be arriving Malaga airport with Sterling Airways 3 February and departing again on 10 February 2007 with a 6 months old baby, and I was wondering if it was possible to rent a pushchair/stroller in the airport, and if so - if the pushchair/stroller can be used all the way out to the plane? If it is not possible to rent a puschchair/stroller is it then possible to bring my own pushchair/stroller through security and to be used all the way out to the plane, so I won't be neccessary for me to carry my baby around after check-in.Alson - is there any "changing-facilities" for babies in the airport?

Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards,
Line

My Reply...

Hi,
As far as I know you cannot hire pushchairs.

however you can keep it right up until you board the plane. At check in they give you stickers to put on your pushchair. Make sure you remove hoods and plastic covers as generally these get broken.

Depending on who you fly with, they may make you wait for your pushchair the other end until it comes out with your luggage. If you speak to someone when you leave the plane you may get it there and then.. If you dont ask you dont get.

There are toilets all over the Airport and some do have baby changing facilitiies.

Hope this helps

New Hand Luggage Regulations

Hi

I know I am giving you very little time but, I have just heard that there are new hand luggage restrictions at Malaga Airport.

Could you inform me what the situation is now re hand luggage., please.

I am leaving tomorrow at 9pm for Manchester.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

J

My Reply...

Hi J

Check in luggage is more or less the same.

Only changes are hand luggage. Here are
Easy Jet and New Hand Luggage Regulations for EUwhich is for all airlines.

We flew the other day out of Malaga. You need a plastic back about 20cm x 20cm to put your liquids in...only up to 100ml. So no bottles of water allowed.

Any big electriccal equipment, dvd, pc, etc etc needs to be taken out of your hand luggage and scanned separately.

You can still buy everytyhing once you are through security.

Hand Luggage for Thomson Fly

Hi Jo,
I'm due to fly with Thomon Fly and cant find anything on their site about hand luggage (what is allowed etc ) .

Ive been on the FAQ's but that only states the size and width.

I'm flying to Gatwick, any ideas ?

Thanks E

My Reply...

Hi E

The rules for hand luggage are now a general rule for everyone in the EU. Are you flying from Malaga?

I flew with easyjet the other day Malaga to Luton and these
Easyjet Rules seem to be the main rules for everyone at the moment.

Basically, no liquids over 100ml. So you cant take bottles of water, shampoo, etc in hand luggage. I was able to take medicine for my little girl but had to leave my water behind.

Hope this is of use.

More items stolen from suitcase at Malaga Aiport

Hello

I thought I would mail your site ..

It nice to see Malaga Airport staff broke in my locked and strapped suitcase and stole 100 euros out of it.

Thanks Malaga Airport Staff ..

You enjoy it ????

S

My Reply

Im Sorry to hear about your suitcase.

In case you are unaware, we are not Malaga Airport. We write about it, but we are not it. We have received many emails about this and is all on our Message Board if you would like to see other peoples emails.

I have made numerous calls to the airport and airlines onbehalf of the many people that have emailed us. The airline that you fly with is whom you have a contract with. They must be informed everytime this happens, then hopefully something will eventually get done.

The airline are the people who are responsible. They employ the baggage staff and this is where the is the problem. They need to be informed everytime, until something is done.

Once again, sorry to hear about your suitcase being broken into.

Digital Camera in Hand Luggage

Hi

Can a digital camera be included as hand luggage or does it have to go in a case in the hold

Thanks

My Reply...

Hi P

You really need to contact the airline you are flying with. They were all allowing different items.

From next month it should all be back to normal.

If flying to Malaga, and you have to put your camera in the hold...make sure you are fully insured. Many items have recently been stolen.

Hi C

There is no left luggage department at Malaga. There is at some other airports like Madrid but not here.

I really dont know what you can do. Could you leave it at the Hotel or where you were staying maybe?

Hopefully if enough people ask if there is one, maybe eventually they will put one there.Regards

Malaga Port to Malaga Airport is about 10 mins drive...no traffic.

Security Checks at Malaga Airport

Good afternoon!

I have tried to search the Malaga Airport website for security restrictionsas we are flying to England on Saturday.

Can you guide me to where I should look?

Thank you

My Reply

Hi ,

Regarding the security checks, we are finding it quite hard to find out exactly what is happening.

Here on Malaga Airport Guide Message Board there are a number of questions regarding hand luggage etc. Basically, some airlines are allowing liquids, some not, some allowing electronic items, some not. It all depends on the airline.

Make sure you lock your case....I have had 2 people email me saying they had things stolen, so please take care.

Jo

Items stolen from suitcase at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo
Having returned on home, we discovered our suitecase had been tampered with and our Canon camcorder with charger, and Sony palm held organiser, were missing, we thought we might have left them in our aqpartment, but a friend double checked and this was not the case.

They were off loaded straight from the plane to carousel at Norwich Airport so can only assume that they went missing through the baggage handling system at Malaga.

Who do we report this too there, can it be done by email, or do we need to phone etc.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards A

My Reply

Hi A,

Sorry to hear your things are missing.

Unfortunately, you are not the first. This seems to be happening alot and has been in the local papers too. The more people complain and inform the airport, surely the better. Something has to be done about the staff working with the luggage.

The telephone numbers for lost property are 0034 952 048 851, 0034 952 048 837.

There is no email. Here is Aena Website with FAQs

I do hope you either get your things back or at least be able to claim for your losses.

Regards

Joanne

Hand Luggage Restrictions For UK Travellers

Important Message From BAA

15 August 2006

Following the Government’s reduction in security levels from critical to severe, passengers are reminded that strict security remains in place at all UK airports. This easing of restrictions is not a return to normal.

The revised regulations will continue to have an impact on our airport operations. All passengers will be subject to hand baggage restrictions. Passengers are asked to be patient while these additional security measures are in place. Delays are likely, and anyone travelling over the next few days is asked to allow extra time for their journey and to arrive at the airport prepared.

Hand baggage restrictions In brief, passengers are now permitted to carry ONE item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point. The cabin bag should be no bigger than 45cm wide x 35cm long x 16cm deep (17.7" wide × 13.7" long × 6.2" deep), including wheels, handles, side pockets - equivalent to a small laptop bag or rucksack.

The restrictions on contents allowed in cabin baggage have now been relaxed and the items prohibited from cabin baggage are now as follows: - Any cosmetics - Any toiletries, including toothpaste, hair gel, lotions, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols, etc. - Any liquids - Any drinks - Any sharp objects.

For further details on the new cabin bag requirements and the latest status of each airport, please select the relevant airport below, where more detailed information will be posted throughout the day:

Heathrow Airport
Gatwick Airport
Stansted Airport
Glasgow Airport
Edinburgh Airport
Aberdeen Airport
Southampton Airport

BAA Airports would like to thank passengers for their co-operation. We are working with our airline partners to minimise any disruption and aim to ensure that passengers pass swiftly and safely through our airports.

Hi J,

There is no information as yet. I would assume that you are not allowed any hand luggage and then if you are - its a bonus!

Malaga Airport Update

11/08/2006
It looks like most flights are back on today, expect delays and seperate your hand luggage before you get to the airport, just keep your essential items with you.

Also in most of the UK airports only people with actual tickets are being allowed into the airport terminals.

I can't find out much about whats happening at Malaga Airport but if you are flying from Malaga to the UK expect delays and expect to travel with limited hand luggage.

Below are links to the latest news form the main airlines:

I lost my Jackets at Malaga Airport

Hello Jo

We left Malaga airport on Thursday, 3rd August. When we arrived home we discovered we'd left a child's pink, zip front, hooded jacket and a blue and red, Proquip, short sleeved golf jacket. We know we put them through the electronic scanner when we went into the departures lounge. It is possible we've either left them in the cafeteria in the departures lounge or on the bus that took us to gate 56C. Is there any way I can check if any one has sent them to lost property. If they are in lost property I can arrange for a friend to pick them up. I'm also trying to contact British Airways as we may have left them in the overhead lockers. Can you help?

Regards

J

Lost Sunglasses at Malaga Airport

Hi,

Last Wednesday I flew from Malaga to Brussels with Virgin. I seem to have left my sun glasses in the airport, around gate B18. our plane left around 7.50h Is there any possible way to know if someone found it? It's very precious to me and I would be grateful to get it back. It's a brown pair of sun glasses with MiuMiu on the sides.

Thanks,

A

Lost Property at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo,

I left my old blue/gray Nokia phone at the metal detector at security on my way home last Saturday from Malaga. The lost property no. is permanently engaged. Any ideas how I might get it back?

I have now had it cancelled by Virgin.
