hi 7 of us are flying into malaga in march at 10 am. could you please tell us the best way to get either a bus or taxi to our villa casa manga in guadalminathanksjulie

Taxis are just outside arrivals hall... you will need 2. Or there is the airport bus https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html but you will need to get a taxi from Marbella bus station to guadalmina still. Regards Joanne

johow much will the taxis cost...will it be cheaper to get a bus and if so how much will that thanks for your quick reply julie

A Taxi is going to cost between 80 and 100 euros maybe. There is a book with chart but sometimes they charge more if they get away with it.

Bus from Malaga to Marbella is about 4euros and then you will need to get a taxi from Marbella to Guadalmina which is around 12 km. Taxi could be anything between 15 and 20 euros.

Spelling Mistake on Air Ticket

Hello,My name is Henrik Olsson and I am writing this mail from Sweden. I have just booked a vacation trip for my family in May this year, from Sweden to Malaga. Now that I have recieved my tickets I can see that I have made an error in the spelling of my 4 year old sons sur name. I have written Matcus but the correct should be Marcus. This error is made by myself and I am to blame. I have been in contact with SAS here in Sweden and they think this is a minor mistake that should ignored in the security check at Malaga airport. Is there any person I can contact at Malaga airport to prevent any difficulties? Thank you very much in advance Regards Henrik Olsson

Hi Henrik I think it should be ok but you could call the airport direct and try and get through to the right department 0034 952 048 838. Regards Joanne

Luggage Store at Malaga

Dear JoSorry I am not able to write in Spanish. Can you please tell me if there are facilities at Malaga to leave luggage for about a week. Before we fly to Madrid then Lisbon early in May we will be doing a self-guided walking tour from Malaga (near Jubrique) and can only take a small bag each. We would like to take our luggage to the airport and then collect it before our flight. With kind regardsPauline Jewry & Bruce Gibson

There is no luggage store at the moment at malaga Airport

Taxi from Malaga is it safe?

Hi Jo, came up with your site while browsing. Our daughter is 20 and traveling alone through AGP to NH Malaga Hotel to hook up with 80 other students. Do you have any idea what a cab ride will cost? Should she agree on price first? I did read about some drivers who are not on the up and up and since she is a very pretty young woman alone I am worriedlDo they have any kind shuttle like NYC airports? Thanks. GRoe

OUt side the arrivals hall are taxi that are all legal the white ones. There is a chart generally on the wall that give prices. If the hotel is in Malaga it shouldnt be more than 10 or 15 euros at all. I hope this helps Regards Joanne

Places of Interest Costa Del Sol

Good morning Jo, I sent an e-mail to your other site but I am not sure if it went through. I apologize if this is a repeat. My husband and I are traveling to Marbella on Sunday, January 27Th. We arrive in Malaga and I have reserved a car through Malaga car hire. I was wondering if they are reputable or if you have heard anything negative I should be aware of. Next, I have a couple of questions. We are staying at the Marbella Marriott and would like to do several day trips. Some of the areas we would like to see are Ronda, Jerez, and of course the Alhambra. We would like to do these in a relaxing manner. Would that be possible and how should we plan our time? Could you recommend any other places that are off the beaten trail that are not touristy but are unique and somewhere you enjoy? Lastly, where do you like to dine and shop for food? We are interested in trying just about anything but try to avoid the heavily commercialized areas. Thank you for your suggestions and help. I have asked quite allot! Heather and Dave

Hi heather, Im sorry i didnt get to answer your question in time. I have been a little unwell. if you get this email there here is a list of places to visit that may help https://malaga-airport-guide.com/placesofinterest.html Regards Joanne

Ipod getting broken in Airport Security

Hi Jo My daughter is travelling back to Gatwick from Malaga in April, she likes to listen to her MP3 to pass the time on board; however in the past she has had problems with MP3s. On two occasions flying out from Gatwick her MP3 started to play up in the departure lounge and refused to work at all on the plane, the MP3 going completely dead. She is now on her third MP3 and is worried that the same thing is going to happen again. Is there any way that it can go through security safely, it is getting too expensive to replace them! I have contacted Monarch as well with this problem and they advised informing security staff to see if it can be avoided being put through the scanner. I thought that we ought to check with Malaga to see if this would be possible, as it is much easier to try and get things sorted out beforehand. I hope that you can help. RegardsDawn Catchpole

Hi Dawn I havent heard about this before.I dont think they will not put it through the scanner due to security. Sorry The best she can do is ask when she gets there. Regards Joanne

Bus from Malaga to Calahonda

Hi Jo,I'm just emailing as I am going to marbella on Wednesday. We're having problems with renting a car so we were thinking of getting a bus or taxi but were not sure. Our apartment is located bewteen Calahonda and Elviria. Do you know how much a taxi for the whole journey would cost? And would we be able to get a bus from the airport to the closest bus stop and get a taxi from there?
Regards,Lisa

Hi,You can get the airprot bus to Marbella Bus Station https://malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html then get a cab from there that will be around 10 to 15 euros maybe. A taxi all the way from the airport you may be looking around 50-60 euros or so. I hope this helps Regards Joanne

What to do at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo I wonder if you would be able to help. Due to a change in our flight time, myself and my wife have round about 5 hours to kill in Malaga airport one afternoon next month. Is there much to do at the airport (restaurants, bars etc) or is there much nearby - only trouble is that we heavy baggage, including a set of golf clubs and therefore don’t fancy a long walk. Any advice you could give would be much appreciated. Many thanks,

Hi Philip Theres not a huge amount to do to be honest, espceally as you have so much luggage too. There isnt a locker at Malaga...or at least the last time we checked. In terminal 1 is burger king, restaurant couple of shops and a small outside area, but not enough really to kill 5 hours well. There is Ikea pretty closeby but need to get a taxi there id say as theres so much work going on.
If you can find somehow to get rid of your luggage then you could take the train into malaga and have a look around. I hope this helps a little Regards Joanne

Hi Jo, Can you tell me what is the easiest way to get from the airport to Palm Beach, La Carihuela. Our flight is due in at 21.15 on a saturday. Also how much would it cost for 2 people. RegardsBrigid Mc Gregor

Malaga Airport to Los Amigos Apartments Mijas Costa

Hi there, Jo. Saw your bit on the website and thought I would ask you the question.

What would be the best and cheapest way of getting to Los Amigos APpartments, Mijas Costa from Malaga. We get there on a Sunday (if that makes a difference!)

Found looking at the bus time tables really difficult.
Would the better option to take a train to Fuengerola and then a taxi. I shall be travelling with a three year old and a couple of other kids (hopefully not too much luggage).

Look forward to your recommendation if you find the time!!

Hi,

Personally, with kids etc I would do that...get the train to Fuengirola and then ask the taxi to take you straight to the apartments. You can search the apartments on www.googlemaps.com as I just dont know exactly where they are...but would think this would be the best option.

Taxi at Malaga Airport

Hello there. I wonder if you can help me.
We are having our first family holiday abroad from 31st March to 13th April 2008 (2 adults 2 children aged 3 and 6).
We are travelling from Blackpool to Malaga and staying at the Las Palmeras hotel in Fuengirola.
We have received conflicting advice as to whether or not to pre-book a taxi from the airport.
Can you recommend a taxi firm and give us an idea of an appropriate fare we should expect to pay.
I really appreciate your advice in this matter.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Tracey Whiteside

Hi Tracey

Taxis are outside the arrivals hall at Malaga Airport. There is only 1 taxi company so you just queue and jump in one. There is a price chart on the wall and also they have a book with all prices in for you to check.

Alternatively you could get a private malaga Transfer.

Malaga Airport to Granada

Hi Jo

I wonder if you could help me advise my parents on the easiest method of going from Malaga airport to Grenada? They are happy to go by bus or train, but don't want to hire a car,

Thanks

Shona Beckwith

Hi Shona,
www.alsa.es is the website for the buses. As long as your parents can find the Alsa bus Station in Malaga then they can get a coach to Granada. All info on the website and its in english too.

Stolen Jewellery at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo
On returning from Malaga last September my suitcase strap was missing at Gatwick. Later on I realised that some items of jewellery were missing. Thinking that I may have left these items in Spain but I couldn't check until our last visit in January this year. the items are definitely missing and I suspect taken from my suitcase at Malaga.
Have you had any other reports of missing items? Should I inform the local police? If so can you let me have their address.
Many thanks for your help

Mrs G M Jackson

Dear Mrs Jackson.

Unfortuantely, we have received numerous emails of the same nature. I think you should inform the airline as they use certain baggage handlers and they need to know what is happening, although i wouldnt get your hopes up.
952 231 620
is the number for the Police at Malaga airport.

Good luck,

Nice hotel close to Malaga Bus Station

Jo,
We are arriving in Malaga on March 6, 2008 and plan to head to Granada directly from there. I do not want to rent a car until we are leaving Granada so we do not need to park a car while in the city. It appears that the bus is the most direct and cheapest way to go. What is the best way to get from the Malaga airport to the Alsa bus station? Ther will be 4 people in our party, my husband and I mid 50's and my 80 year old parents.

Do you recommend a nice hotel near the airport? when we fly out, my parent have a very early morning flight and I want to be a close taxi ride away.

Thank you for your reply and help!

Diane Dahm

Hi Diane,

There is a hotel called Barcelo Hotel which is at the new Vialia Shopping Centre at Station Maria Zambrano which is where the main train station is and also buses.

I think the station you need is Malaga Renfe which is a few stops from Malaga Airport. But please check as the stations seem to have a number of different names to them.

www.renfe.es is the train line http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ is the buses.

A taxi costs around 1.20-1.30€ per km min around 6€uros....its not going to cost much to get where you want.

I hope you have a good time.

Hotel Sur Malaga

Hello Jo Great website! I am travelling to Seville in April, flying into Malaga and staying over night there first at the Hotel Sur. Do you know how the best way to get to the hotel from the airport is? Train or taxi? The next day I will be getting the train from Malaga to Seville. What is the price for the train? Is the train station near where my hotel is situated and is booking tickets prior recommended? Sorry for all the questions. Never travelled on my own before nor have I been to Malaga. Many thanks, Tracey x

Hi Tracey the website for the train is www.renfe.es the price should come up when you enquire about your tickets. Personally, if money is too much of an issue, I would just jump into a taxi and get straight to your hotel. But Im sure you can get a train near to the hotel. best to call the hotel and ask for the nearest station. Then you can look at www.renfe.es and go to cercanias which are the local lines. The main train station is at the vialia Shopping Centre which doesnt look too far from your hotel. Enjoy Good luck Regards Joanne

Pass for Parking on Puerto Banus

Hi Jo Im shortly moving close to Puerto Banus from the UK but before this I am coming down with a friend in a couple of 'special' cars. I have read its possible to get a port pass to enable parking at the marina itself ..... how do I do this? Any ideas? I just want to keep them in view while we are in the area . Kind Regards Jake

Hi Jake Im not too sure....I would have thought that either its for people that own shops, boats or live there. However I have also seen numeous people park there who have rented cars from Dream Car Rentals....with all the "special cars" I would maybe post a question on your marbella im sure someone there has a car that they park down there. If you find out it would be great to hear from you Regards Joanne

Parking at P4 Malaga Airport - Personal Review

Hi Jo,

Having heard about P3, I read your info before leaving for the UK 9th Jan upon arrival Signs stating P3 was full , I drove around the airport and returned to the roundabout and followed P4 signs. Parked the car and walk to the train station bridge and crossed the roads to the existing Airport parking facilities.

Arrived back 13th Jan at night, walked to my car and drove away.

No tickets, no charge, no problem. However I must point out, it did not look at all secure, it’s a big car park, physically the other side of the rail track,( having drove under the track) most importantly I saw no indication of buses at all and it is a good walk to the terminal, with no bags its ok, with bags seriously forget it or drop family/bags off first and allow 15mins to walk back. Hope this is of use

Regards Sean Galligan

Thank you sean very much for the information, I shall post it up very soon

Car Sharing at Malaga Airport

Here is an odd one for you!
I have an apartment in Portugal and have been thinking of buying a car.
As you may know, Portuguese cars are very pricey and I have been looking at two options. First is to buy a car in Spain and have this parked at Faro airport for six summer months (where most of ours and our co-owners holiday usage is) and then the car would be parked at Malaga (probably in Parking Sur as Faro do not yet have a realistically priced set up)
The Portuguese authorities do not like you having a non portuguese car in their country for more than 6 months hence the move to Spain.
The other alternative is to buy an english car to do the same with (we have found a Gib based insurer who will sort insurance).
An unusual request I know but you may know someone who could share the cost of the winter 6 months (and clearly use the car in this time) rather than it languishing in the car park.
Regards
Richard

Hi Richard, it is a little strange, and Im sorry, I just dont know anyone. You could have a look at www.surinenglish.com and maybe even place a small ad. Alternatively you could see if anyone on www.yourmarbella.com knows anyone that would be interested. Its a local website and there are a number of people here for 6 months and then back in uk. Good luck Regards Joanne

Thanks Jo
I was in Malaga on tuesday and...wow, what a mess the airport is! I am sure that it will be for the good though

Personal review of being disabled at Malaga Airport

Happy New Year to you Jo - as promised I am going to give my report on the help my mother had to and from Malaga Airport. It went extremely well, particularly on arrival. She had an ambi-lift (think thats what they call it) from the plane straight to passport control/baggage area, so there wasnt need for a buggie. Naturally my mother had already registred for Airport Assistance on booking the holiday which she always does, so that is essential.

On arriving at the depature check-in on the 3rd Jan, we were told to go straight to the Iberia Desk behind security for a buggie to take us straight to the depature lounge. It would have worked brilliantly except that the Iberia buggie men walked out!!!! so my poor mother had to wait around for an hour, that wasnt so great, but couldnt be helped. Otherwise, it would have gone swimmingly - but at least we know what to do now. - there is no charge for requesting Airport Assistance.

Hope this will be helpful to Disabled passengers arriving at Malaga Aiport. Why oh why do they build these airports in such a way that passengers have to walk miles beats me.

Lynda Carrick

Hi Lynda

Happy new year to you too.

Thanks for the info, I will put it up soon so others can read it too.

I know...sometimes the walk is soo far... I have often had to carry my little girl a long way when she has fallen asleep on the plane...

Thanks again

BA Hand Luggage 2 bags now

Hi Jo

I will be travelling from Malaga via Heathrow to Sydney in February. British Airways have advise that we can now take two pieces of hand luggage from Heathrow, but does this apply to Malaga also. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards
Angela Foster

Hi,
We just flew back with ba and yes they have changed their policy and you can now take 2 peices of luggage.

Malaga should allow you the same if flying ba....its their rules.

So unless they change back to 1 I would say it should be fine.

Just wondered if you had any idea how much a taxi would cost from Estepona to Malaga airport just one way in May as my son is getting married in Estepona and relatives are asking for prices for their return trip.
Regards

Hi Anne

Its around 90 kms. Taxis are generally around 1euro 10 or 20 perkm Id expect to pay around 110 to 120euros. They could get the airport bus for 4euros to marbella Bus station and then get a bus to estepona or a taxi from there.

I had thought of Granada (the Alhambra) and maybe Gibraltar. Would that be doable and what would be the best way to travel. Thank you. Pat Fulton, Northern Ireland.

Hi Pat,Im sorry I didnt get to email you in time....but I have to have a break at somepoint. I hope you had a good time...there were a few bad days here in marbella...but today is lovely hey? If you get this email Alhambra is lovely..and gibraltar is a good place to go to too, remember your passport. Saturday many shops are closed though, mainly some of the jewellers and perfumery shops. Malaga City itself is also great and the lights are normally fantastic. Regards Joanne
