New Hand Luggage Regulations

Hi

I know I am giving you very little time but, I have just heard that there are new hand luggage restrictions at Malaga Airport.

Could you inform me what the situation is now re hand luggage., please.

I am leaving tomorrow at 9pm for Manchester.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

J

Hi J

Check in luggage is more or less the same.

Only changes are hand luggage. Here are
Easy Jet and New Hand Luggage Regulations for EUwhich is for all airlines.

We flew the other day out of Malaga. You need a plastic back about 20cm x 20cm to put your liquids in...only up to 100ml. So no bottles of water allowed.

Any big electriccal equipment, dvd, pc, etc etc needs to be taken out of your hand luggage and scanned separately.

You can still buy everytyhing once you are through security.

Travelling at Christmas through Spain

Hi Jo,
I got your email address from Malaga Airport Website.

I am a student and will be in Southern Spain for few days during this Christmas. Although I planned to travel many places in that area, lack of time and money will make it a short one. I am flying to Malaga on 24th December and next day I plan to head to Seville and then to Madrid few days later to catch a flight back.

I am not sure how travelling on Christmas Day will be like, do you know if there be any train or buses available that day? Or if I need to book early?Ok then, I apologise if I am bothering you too much.

Best regards,
M

My Reply...

Hi M
In all honesty, Im not too sure exactly what travelling is like at Christmas. January 6th is a big day here, being 3 kings day.

Below are links to all transportation from Malaga. All websites are pretty good and are in English and Spanish.

Have a look and if you cannot find what you are looking for, just give them a call. Generally, the people are very helpful and speak good English, if you dont speak Spanish.

Have a lovely time.

Hand Luggage for Thomson Fly

Hi Jo,
I'm due to fly with Thomon Fly and cant find anything on their site about hand luggage (what is allowed etc ) .

Ive been on the FAQ's but that only states the size and width.

I'm flying to Gatwick, any ideas ?

Thanks E

My Reply...

Hi E

The rules for hand luggage are now a general rule for everyone in the EU. Are you flying from Malaga?

I flew with easyjet the other day Malaga to Luton and these
Easyjet Rules seem to be the main rules for everyone at the moment.

Basically, no liquids over 100ml. So you cant take bottles of water, shampoo, etc in hand luggage. I was able to take medicine for my little girl but had to leave my water behind.

Hope this is of use.

Free parking at Malaga Airport

At the moment, you can park for free at Malaga Airport. Follow the signs to P3. Park in the car park and then there will be a free bus that will come and take you to the airport.

The bus runs frequently so will also pick you up out side the arrivals hall and take you back to P3 or wherever you have parked.

There is still alot of works going on at the airport so make sure you allow enough time.

Meeting Point at Malaga Airport

Dear Jo
Firstly thanks very much for the info you provide on the site - it is agreat help.

A couple of questions please.
I am travelling to Malaga Airport shortly (within 4 days) from UK and will meet up with some friends who are travelling on another flight from anotherAirport. We will arrive within 10 minutes of each other(hopefully!). Noting that none of us have been to Malaga Airport before, what is the best placeto meet at the Airport (before we all go to collect the hired car)? Is there an "information counter", for example?

Secondly, how can we find out about addresses of good "authentic tapas bars"in Andalucia (primarily Southern Andalucia).
Thanks again for all your help.
With kind regards

H

My Reply

Hi Hugh,
I hope its not too late. I only arrived back myself late last night.

In Malaga Airport, collect your cases from the conveyor belt. Then you head for the exit but dont go through. Just before you go through the main doors into the arrivals.....on the right there are big signs saying car hire with stairs leading down.

I would think the best place would be to meet either at the top of here or down stairs where all the car hire desks are. I havent been down there for a while but dont think there is a cafe there.

Regarding Tapas, depending on where you are staying....if in a hotel , the concierge will be able to help you. In Marbella Old Town there are lots all around and many people do a tapas crawl instead of a bar crawl.

Tarberna del Pinxto and Los Olivios are the 2 tapas places I remember. Ask any local and Im sure they will be able to help.

Have a good time

Regards

Joanne

Travel Assistance at Malaga Airport

Hi Jo

I have an elderly gentleman travelling to Malaga in November. I have arranged assistance via FlyGlobespan but this terminates at the baggage reclaim. As he is partially sited he needs help to locate his case.

He is being met by friends who live in Spain but they are not able to get into the baggage reclaim area to help him.

Is there anyone I can contact at the airport who can provide this assistance.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

M

My Reply...

Hi M

I have finally got through to the disabled enquiries at Malaga Airport.

They are saying it is down to the airline you are flying with and you must speak to them.

So I would call Flyglobespan and see what they say. They should stay for baggage reclaim.

Here is the website for
Malaga Airport it is in english too and if you phone they speak english if you need.

I wish I could help more.

Regards

Joanne
