New Bus Service from Marbella to Malaga Main Train Station

Ok, There is a new bus service going FROM MARBELLA BUS STATION to MALAGA AVE TRAIN STATION.

This is brilliant news as if you live in or around Marbella and want to take the train to say Madrid or Cordoba or anywhere else, you have to get to Malaga, Park, pay a fortune and before you have even started.

There are 2 buses, its not that clear, but one normal, 1 express. The normal service costs 4.78€uros and the express costs 6.90euros

From Malaga Train Station there are 16 buses through the day starting at 0645 through to 2340.

From Marbella Bus Station there are also 16 buses starting at 0550 through to 22.40.

There is also a Sunday Service from Malaga Train Station to Marbella from 0900 to 22.45 12 buses in total through the day. And from Marbella 0745 to 2040 10 buses through the day.

If you have used this service please do let us know what its like.

For further and up to date information you can go to http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ and on the home page is a picture saying AVE to Costa Del Sol. Click here for the time table.

Malaga Airport to Hotel Playa Bella Estepona

Hi Jo, I have just booked a weeks holiday in Estepona at the Playabella Spa Hotel and I’m trying to find an economical shuttle bus to get my wife and I from the airport to our hotel on the 13th October and the reverse on the 20th. We are pensioners and the costs I have seen so far seem rather excessive. £110 each way for a 50 minute journey rather takes the edge off the holiday spending money and we may have to cancel the hotel & flight booking. I do hope you will be able to help us. Regards
John

Hi John,
Im not too sure if you would drive but the cheapest car is coming out at around 74€uros for the dates that you require. Obviously plus fuel and bit and bobs but thats alot cheaper and you are free to do what you want https://malaga-airport-guide.com/ here is the link, you can fill in the form to get a quick quote yourself.

Alternatively this link is to Shuttle direct who we recommend for a private transfer. To Estepona for 2 of you is coming up at about 48euros per person each way. So just under 100€uros (NOT POUNDS). You could get a taxi from outside the airport but normally private transfer is about the same price - and you know its a set price unlike taxi who sometimes charge what they want. You could also take the Airport Bus from Malaga Airport Time table here takes 45 minutes and costs just 4.26€. You could then get another bus or a taxi from here. Time consuming though.

If you are ever looking for Self Catering we can also recommend a cheap apartment close to Puerto Banus www.lamaestranza.eu A taxi normally costs around 75€uros or its a 10euro cab journey from Marbella Bus Station.

I hope this helps

Regards

Cheap Places to Stay in Benalmadean

Hi Jo. Me and my family are planning on traveling to Tangier christmas via malaga airport. We tried to hire a car that we could take from the airport to Morocco but now realise all the BS pwople have told me came fromthe fairies. So plan B is to hire a car from the airport and park up at algesires ferry port and go foot passenger. Option c is to get a coach or bus. However we would like to stop a few days either side of the trip in Spain. Could you recomend a good b&b in belamadena, that does not use the christmas/newyear as an excuse to hike up prices. Thanks for any help. William

Hi William I think plan b is the best option. follow this link through to benalmadean hotels via Alpha Rooms. I always find them the cheapest. Unfortunately many people put the prices up for the xmas and new year. YOu can get a Malaga Car Hire Quote Here too. Regards Joanne

How do I get from Malaga to Cordoba at Night

Hello Jo, My husband and I shall be arriving at Malaga airport on Easyjet at 21.35 on Wednesday. We need to get to Las Pinedas, near Cordoba, that evening. We were hoping to avoid having to take a taxi, but as it’s quite late at night I’m not sure that it will be possible to find a train or bus. Do you have any advice you could give me? Thank you, Hannah

Hi Hannah Im having real trouble finding anything for you as you land after 9pm. www.renfe.es is for the trains. http://www.estabus.emtsam.es/ is the buses but nothing that late. here you could see about hiring a car - often pretty cheap this time of year. Instead of taking a taxi I personally would recommend a private transfer here is the link. You have a set price and thats it. I hope this helps Regards Joanne

Excellent. Thanks very much for your help, much appreciated! Regards, Hannah

Transandalucia Coach Hire & Tours

I have often seen Transandalucia Buses on the road, sometimes being the coaches for some of the schools.

Today I gave them a call and got some information that may well help many of you out there who come in groups and want to do big tours to say Granada, Gibraltar etc.

Transandalucia are a private Coach Firm and they have Minibuses for 7 people up to big coaches.

So if you are say a party of 7 or more (maybe less) and arrive at Malaga Airport and need to go to Gibraltar - then this could be an option for you.

They do tours to:-
Granada
Gibraltar
Morocco
Seville
Cordoba
Rural Andalucia.

Places to Shop on Christmas Eve in Marbella

Dear Jo I wonder if you could help, we are flying into Malaga (heading to Marbella) on Dec 24th 2008 - we are renting a car and really my question is, are the shops open because we want to stock up on food for the apartment we are staying at, is there something on route or indeed at Malaga? We should be leaving airport about 12.00 midday. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Hi Caroline On the way to Marbella, if you go via the Coast road you will see signs for Mercadona which is a supermarket (one of the cheaper ones). Also OpenCor which is a little more expensive. In La Canada Shopping Centre which is between marbella and puerto banus there is Alcampo massive supermarket. There is also Euroski at Fuengirola - Miramar shopping centre. There are lots of places to get food. All should be open as its a wednesday. Here are driving directions from Malaga Airport.

Warning to Car Drivers - English & Hire Car in Spain

I have heard many stories about fake policemen stopping cars and car muggings etc. Also just this summer we knew 2 people that got robbed. 1 at the airport and 1 at La Canada Shopping Centre.

Today I came across this article.

Beware of road muggers in Spain 21/09/2008

Sandra Piddock advises on how to steer clear of the latest crime wave to hit Spain.

Spain, like any other country in the world, has its share of crime. At the moment, ‘road muggings’ are hitting the headlines and a little forewarning should help you to keep out of trouble. On main roads from the airports and ferry ports, bogus police officers are stopping unsuspecting motorists and robbing them. If you’re driving a car with British number plates, or a rental car with a sticker from the company in the back, the criminal fraternity see you as an easy target.

We do not want to hire a car and were wondering would it be possible for us to get the bus from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station and then get a taxi to the apartment? Do you think this would be the best route? Many thanks for your help.

Malaga Airport to Gaucin by train

Hi Jo, I'm wondering if you could help me. I'm flying to Malaga on October the 8th. I need to get to Gaucin by public transport. Is there a bus or train I could catch from the airport? Many Thanks Abigail Neal

Hi Abigail, Sorry for the delay. You can actually get the train. I would double check and give them a call but ... You can go from Malaga to Bobadilla. Then bobadilla to Gaucin. So from Malaga Airport to take the train to Malaga City - Maria Zambrano Station. whole journey looks like it will take just over 3 hours. Prices depend on what time and days you travel but think under 20€uros for all. www.renfe.es is the train website and telephone nubmer.

Disabled Passenger told to climb stairs at Malaga

Good Morning

I have just had a passenger who came back from Malaga airport last week, who had a problem. I orgainsed with Firstchoice, preboarding for my client, who uses a wheelchair, (she is not confinedto the wheelchair), and has a great problem in climbing steps. The preboarding was done at ema, in the uk, and upon arrival into malaga , but on the return journey, they were taken out to the plane, but told to climb the steps!!!!!, this caused her great stress and pain, so I would like to know if you know an e-mail address we can complain to at malaga???. The lady was also with someone else, whose husband had to carry her onto the aircraft, and she says it happens quite regular there!!

Look forward to hearing from you

regards

Julie

How to get from Malaga Airport to Miraflores

My wife and I will be holidaying in Miraflores. We don't want to get a taxi as I find the fare too expensive. Whats alternative have I say by bus or train.

Kind regards,

Terry

Hi Terry

To get to Miraflores best is probably to get the Malaga Train to Fuengirola, the last stop and then a bus to Miraflores.

Alternatively if you wish to hire a car, they are pretty cheap at the moment you can get a cheap malaga car hire quote here.

Malaga to Tarifa, Gibraltar or Algeciras

Good morning,
My wife and I will arrive Malaga Airport 22nd November 2008 09:50 to visit family in Tarifa. My family can collect us from Gibralter Algeciras ot Tarifa. Our return flight is 6th December 10:25.
I know there are buses but I am struggling to understand what to do, can you advise please?
I think I need to get to Malaga Central Bus station but don't know how.
I think the best solution is to go to Algeciras.
Is there a better solution please?

RegardsJohn

Hi John A couple of options. Either from the airport take the train (opposite) or local bus to Malaga City Main Train / Bus Station. Im sure its call Maria Zambrano. Then from there you can get a bus to La Linea, Algeciras or whereever you need. Alternatively you can get the Malaga Airport Bus which takes you to the marbella bus station and then get a bus from there to Algeciras or La Linea. here is the website for the buses

People going through my Suitcases at Malaga Airport

Hello Jo We flew out of Malaga to Manchester on Weds 10 September. As we left the airport on the bus to our flight we spotted my girlfriend's suitcase lying on the tar-mac. When we pointed it out to the baggage handlers they were just rude and started shouting at us that they knew and we should forget it and get on the plane as it would be sorted. The bag did turn up but the two guys were (pardon my French) arseholes! Further to that, when we got back to Manchester airport and I collected my baggage it was apparent that the lock had been broken off and my luggage had been rifled through. Everything was a mess in my case and things like my bathroom bag and my camera bag had been opened and looked through too. I know this isn't your fault and there's not really anything that can be done about it but I just thought that there was maybe someone you could mention it to so that other people don't have this happen to them too. The Malaga airport baggage handlers clearly don't have any pride in their work. Sorry to whinge, I don't like complaining but I thought it might be in your interest to know about it. Thanks

Hi Simon Unfortuantely there is nothing i can do. We are not the airport direct. But you are not alone. We hear this stuff everyday. I will post your comment up Theres a lot of problems all over with baggage handlers. We hear alot of it because we write about Malaga AIrport. Many suitcases have been opened and items taken out. Its terrible but it wont be until someone goes undercover that they find out exactly who it is. Keep everything valuable on you ! Regards Joanne

Bless you. Thanks for that, I didn't even expect a reply to be honest. I sort of knew there would be nothing you could do but just thought it would be good to make somebody aware of it. I rather suspected we wouldn't be the first ones it had happened to. Many Thanks

Hi Jo, We are travelling by car to Malaga docks next month to pick up a Pullmantur cruise. Do you know if there is any public car parking in the area? We need 8 days. Secure, and sensible pricing. If there is such a thing! Hoping you can help. regards Sandra

Hi Sandra,Im not too sure about parking aroud the dock. Sorry. I know there was a car park at the main Malaga Train Station Maria Zambrano, it was pretty expensive. Alternatively, park at Malaga Airport in P3 free but then you need to get to the terminal by shuttle bus and then to the docks which is 15 mintues drive. Regards Joanne

Hi Jo, thanks for your speedy reply. The airport option at P3 sounds a good option. Do I understand you correctly when you said it is free of charge? That will be a first !! Your help is much appreciated. Regards Sandra

Malaga to Marbella to Estepona

Hi Jo, My boyfriend and our 1 year old are going to Estepona on holiday next week. We land in Malaga about half 8 in the evening and are wondering the best way to get to Estepona. Should we get the bus to Marbella then a taxi, to save money, or would it not be a good idea at that time of night? We have priced up taxis the whole way and think it is going to cost around 120 euros. Your advice would be appreciated many thanksCatherine

Hi Catherine,

YOu could get the Direct Malaga AIrport Bus to Marbella Bus station. This would cost 4.03euros and takes 45 minutes.

Times here malaga-airport-guide.com/Airport-Bus.html

Then you could change and get another bus or get a taxi for the rest of the way. Cost around 25 euros or so.

Address of Train Station in Malaga

Good Morning to you

On the 23rd September we are scheduled to meet some friends who are travelling from Alicante to Malaga by ALSA bus/coach.Can you tell me which coach station they will arrive in Malaga and the street address. For some reason the timetable only states Malaga and there appear from the map to be more than one.

Kind regards

Brian J

HI Brian

The websites arent great for getting information from.

Maria Zambrano (Vialia Shopping Centre) is where the main trian and bus station is now in Malaga so I would think it would stop here.

The Address

Av de María Zambrano
29006, Málaga
Spain

I would try and verify this though with the bus people.

Malaga Airport to Nerja

Hi Jo,

Hope life is treating you well.

How do I get from Malaga airport to Nerja? I know I need to take a bus. But how do I get to the bus station from the airport? I will be arriving Sep 2 in the afternoon.

Also what would be the best way to get from Torremolinos to Marbella and Puerto Banus? We will not have a car. And we will have to rely on public transportation.

Any recommendation on good inexpensive places to eat in Nerja, Torremolinos ,Marbella and Puerto Banus are very much appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Anna

Hi Anna

Traveling to Marbella is not that easy as no trains.

Here is a website for buses from Malaga Bus Station http://www.estabus.emtsam.es/

here you can go to nerja. But you need to get to the main bus station which you can get to by the bus from Malaga Aiprort (not the airport bus direct to Marbella) or train to Maria Zambrano Station.

www.renfe.es is for the trains and you need to go to cercanias and Malaga which is the local lines.

http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/ this website is for the buses from Malaga to Marbella Area.

You can get a train from Malaga to Torremolinos as far as Fuengirola.

I hope this helps

Regards

Joanne

Thanks so much for your help Jo
