Gibraltar

When we first moved here we went to Gibraltar a couple of times as it was easier buying all baby stuff from Mothercare in English. But we didn't like it, so didn't go back for ages.

But we have recently been going a little more frequently ...I think it has improved quite a bit and there are some better shops there like La Senza, Monsoon, Early Learning Centre, Tommy Hilfiger, Marks and Spencer and Top Shop. There is even Morrisons Supermarket that used to be Safeway.

When we go there we tend to spend a fortune. I realised that in Top Shop the other day ...a pair of jeans in Gibraltar was either 40 pounds or €60. The same jeans in La Canada in Marbella were €58 so they do bring the price down a little.

I think it's the familiarity of stores like BHS and Marks & Spencer. The way things are merchandised are much better than here in Spain ...I think. You just seem to want to buy ...well I do anyway.

To drive to Gibraltar is just 50 minutes from Marbella. Lately we have been driving in early and the queue hasn't been too bad - just a short wait of about 10 to 15 minutes. When we first moved here we queued up for hours to get on and off and it was terrible.

If you fancy a day trip then I would definitely go to Gibraltar even if it's just once. It is strange crossing the border and entering "Little Britain". Everyone speaks English or a mix of both Spanish and English.
