Costa Del Sol Temperatures and some practical advice
We have lived in Spain for around 7 years and have holidayed here for many years. Below is a brief overview of our experience of the weather and temperatures on the Costa Del Sol. The forecast above is set for Malaga Airport.
January to February. A lot of sunny days, when the sun is out you can definitely walk around in a T-shirt but when you step into the shade you feel the cold. You can get some cold winds and when it rains it pours and can get chilly. Pack jackets, jumpers and coats for the evening and some days. Many apartments have marble floors which get chilly so bring slippers.
This is the time of year when you see the Spanish in fur coats and the English in shorts!
March to April. In all 3 years we have lived here, through March and April, its been wet at the end of March and beginning of April, and I mean wet, this seems to be the rainy season!
If its not raining however it can get quite warm, you will still need jackets for the evenings and some days.
May. Warm but not too hot! Bring a jacket for the evening.
June, July & August. HOT!!! bring things to keep you cool, July and August are the hottest months for Costa Del Sol. Temperatures have reached 45°c on the thermometer, but this is rare. No jackets required unless you intend on five star dining.
September. A lovely month, hot at the beginning and cooling at the end. You shouldn't´t need a jacket or coat but bring one if you are coming at the end of September.
October. A bit like April, this is when the Costa Del Sol Temperatures and weather changes. The colder weather comes along with the rain. October is the time that Unheated swimming pools stop being used. That's not to say you cant sunbathe, you can but just for less time and less days.
November & December. When its sunny its warm and when there's no sun its chilly. Similar to January & February. Make sure you bring the slippers for those cold floors! One Christmas it was 21° on Christmas Day!
The year round average temperatures mean that planning outdoor activities is not restricted to the "odd" nice day in the winter. Within this site we have information on a selection of things to do including articles on all Costa Del Sol Markets, a selection of Costa Del Sol Theme Parks and Plaza Mayor, a large entertainment complex adjacent to Malaga Airport
