Bank holidays in Spain, Andalucia & Marbella

Spanish & Andalucia Bank Holidays

Flamenco
3 Kings Day
Santa Semana

Spain is a large country comprising of 50 different Provinces which are grouped into 19 Autonomous Communities. Each Autonomous Community has its own Capital, so for example, Andalucia is a Autonomous Community and has 8 provinces within it, and Seville is the Capital of Andalucia.

Within this Province are the areas of San Pedro, Marbella, Estepona etc etc. Many areas have their own fiesta/holiday days, so depending on which part of Spain you go to, its always best to check within that area..

For example San Pedro has its own special local holiday. This doesn't affect Marbella Town or Puerto Banus, but El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus was closed because its main depot in San Pedro was closed as it was Feria Day.

Many times, if a holiday falls on a Thursday, the Friday will be taken as a holiday too. Generally shopping centres wont take the Friday off, but office workers will more than likely take it as holiday. Much of the time it can get busy as many people from Madrid come down to the coast for a long weekend.

Below is a list of the National Spanish Holidays for 2009 and towards the bottom of the page are the separate local holidays for Malaga, Marbella, Estepona and Fuengirola. Make sure you have a good look when booking your holiday.
